Bell Equipment Co., a building materials supplier in Lake Orion, has been acquired by MacQueen Equipment in St. Paul, Minn., a Rotunda Capital Partners portfolio company. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

With the acquisition, MacQueen Equipment has expanded its environmental equipment dealership network to Michigan and Ohio.

The combined company, officials state, will create the largest environmental equipment dealer in the Midwest, covering a six-state territory: Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Iowa.

Additionally, MacQueen Emergency, a division of MacQueen Equipment, is one of the largest fire truck dealers and emergency equipment suppliers in the U.S., covering a seven-state territory: Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

Bell Equipment will continue to serve contractor and municipal markets in Michigan and Ohio, representing brands such as Elgin street sweepers (Michigan only), Heil waste trucks, Schaefer waste carts, Epoke snow equipment, Titan leaf vacs, SetCom communication tools, and Trackless municipal tractors.

MacQueen Equipment has elected to keep the Bell Equipment name due to the company’s 70-year legacy. Rotunda Capital Partners is based in Bethesda, Md.

“I’m incredibly proud of what my family’s company has accomplished in Michigan and Ohio,” says Jimmy Bell, president of Bell Equipment. “I know that MacQueen Equipment is a good match for the way we do business — the people, the products, and the integrity factor. I feel confident Bell’s employees and customers are in good hands.”

MacQueen Equipment is known for its versatile equipment portfolio, large-scale parts inventory, hands-on operator training, and multi-state service network.

“I have a long history with the Bell family,” says Dan Gage, CEO of MacQueen Equipment. “So this acquisition is a natural fit. We know the business model better than anyone, and we are already seeing impressive synergies between Bell and our MacQueen locations. Merging these two longstanding companies will no doubt result in a better customer experience across our territories.”

The MacQueen Group offers a mix of municipal, fire, and safe dig equipment, including street sweepers, sewer cleaners, refuse trucks, snow removal equipment, fire trucks, and vacuum excavators. MacQueen has 13 locations in the upper Midwest. In addition to sales, the company offers a large parts inventory, local service centers, mobile service capabilities, and specialized operator training.
