Beaumont Health System today broke ground on a new medical office building and outpatient service facility in Grosse Pointe that is expected to open in September 2016.

The new 60,000-square-foot building, to be located at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Cadieux Road, will offer outpatient services such as endoscopy, wound care, and outpatient labs. The first and second floors will house doctors’ offices.

After relocating outpatient services to the new building, Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe will have the space to add 20 to 22 private, in-patient hospital rooms, 11 medical-surgical rooms, and six intensive care rooms.

“Any time we provide additional space for private patient rooms, we improve opportunities for healing (and) decrease disruption, infection rates, and ultimately length-of-stay, while creating a greater atmosphere of comfort,” says Rick Swaine, senior vice president and hospital president for Beaumont Hospital – Grosse Pointe.

The building owner and developer, Milwaukee-based Landmark Healthcare Facilities LLC, has also developed medical facilities such as the Wellness Center for Beaumont in Rochester Hills, Beaumont’s medical office building in Troy, and McLaren Health System’s medical office building in Bay City.

The 250-bed Beaumont Hospital – Grosse Pointe opened in 1945 and today offers medical, surgical, emergency, obstetric, pediatric, and critical care services.
