Batch Brewing Co. Acquires Chaps Automotive Building in Detroit's North End

Detroit’s Batch Brewing Co. today announced the acquisition of a building in Detroit’s Milwaukee Junction/North End neighborhood.

Previously Chaps Automotive, the building, located at 2841 East Grand Blvd., will initially serve as a packaging and distribution facility, as well as the company’s “Funk Room,” which will provide additional space for the company’s mixed culture, sour beer program, and wild fermented cider program.

“Batch Brewing Co. actually got its start in the North End neighborhood at the Jam Handy complex in 2012,” says Stephen Roginson, founder of Batch Brewing Co. “We’re thrilled to grow our business here and create a community gathering place for residents and the office dwellers of the North End and New Center areas.”

Future plans are being developed for the location, including an eventual second taproom. This will bring Batch Brewing Co.’s beer, cider, and food to the North End area, as well as allowing for a community gathering and event retail space.

“The strong community ethic and quality product that Batch Brewing Co. brings adds another great craft business to this emerging neighborhood,” says Sue Mosey, executive director of Midtown Detroit Inc.

Batch Brewing Co. was recently voted best microbrewery by Hour Detroit and won Hatch Detroit in 2013, before opening their doors in early 2015. The original location is at 1400 Porter St. in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood.
