Baker College in Royal Oak, which has five campuses in Michigan along with online classes, has announced it has implemented a simplified and transparent tuition model, along with introducing new scholarships.

Undergraduate tuition for most programs are $13,500 for a 30 credit-hour year, one of the lowest tuition compared to other state universities.

At only $450 per credit hour, the rates are consistent whether learning on-campus or online. Baker College has campuses Royal Oak, Cadillac, Jackson, Muskegon, and Owosso, and is affiliated with the Culinary Institute of Michigan and Auto/Diesel Institute.

In addition, the BeFreeTuition Guarantee has been enhanced to provide greater accessibility. Eligible students who qualify for the maximum Pell Grants now can take advantage of this program with ease, according to the school. In addition, the deadline was eliminated, there’s no Michigan residency requirement, and the qualifying GPA was lowered.

Overall, Baker College works with students at various stages of their educational journey and offers approved scholarships tailored for traditional students, transfer students, Dual Enrollment students (high school students taking college courses), graduate students, and adults starting or returning to finish.

Among the new offerings is the Bright Futures Scholarship, tailored for adult learners who have been away from high school for more than five years and have zero to limited college credits. Additionally, the First Generation Scholarship is available to support students who are the first in their families to pursue higher education.

Scholarships are also available for both traditional fall and spring semesters, as well as summer sessions for those trying to get ahead in their studies. The Transfer Scholarship provides financial support to students transferring from other institutions.

A new Varsity Esports Scholarship opens the doors for gamers to turn their passion into an educational opportunity. Some are program-specific, while others are accessible based on Promise Zones.

“Baker is meeting students where they are in their unique educational journey to help alleviate financial challenges. Federal Pell Grant eligibility has broadened, the formula for determining financial aid through the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) has evolved, and with these enhancements our students can benefit from a simplified financial aid processing experience by using the Baker FAFSA code 004673,” said Linda Katrinic, vice president of financial aid at Baker College.
