Michigan companies are being invited to apply for the opportunity to meet with representatives of the Big Three automakers and more than 40 Tier 1 suppliers, representing more than 400 procurement needs, at a matchmaking summit this summer.

Businesses selected to participate in the event, hosted by Pure Michigan Business Connect, will be invited to attend pre-arranged, exclusive purchaser-supplier meetings on July 22 at Cobo Center in Detroit.

“This matchmaking summit will give Michigan companies opportunities with the Detroit automakers and their key suppliers that they might not otherwise have,” says Michael A. Finney, president and CEO of Michigan Economic Development Corp., which oversees the business connect program.

The automakers and suppliers represented at the summit are looking for everything from printing services to injection molding equipment.

“Michigan’s automotive industry is roaring back, and this matchmaking summit is a unique opportunity for Michigan suppliers to tap into the comeback of this vital industry and find their niche in the automotive supply chain,” says Gov. Rick Snyder. “We commend Chrysler, Ford, GM, and their Tier 1 partners for their commitment to working with Michigan suppliers and growing our economy.”

Applications are due by June 20, and all applicants will be notified by July 3 whether or not they have been selected to participate. Applications received after the deadline will be considered only if there are needs that have not been addressed through the initial application window.
