Automation Alley is offering the opportunity for Michigan companies to network at the global level via a Dec. 5-12 trade mission to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

This is Automation Alley’s first trade mission to Saudi Arabia, although the Troy-based technology-based business association has offered excursions to Israel, UAE, and Qatar in the past. Saudi Arabia is Michigan’s largest export market and the largest automobile market in the Middle East, while the UAE boasts the region’s second largest economy.

“When it comes to our trade missions we handle everything for the companies, including flights, lodging, matchmaking meetings, and in-country briefings, as well as any other in-country assistance companies may need,” says Noel Nevshehir, director of international business with Automation Alley.

The mission will include stops in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia and its largest city, and Dubai, UAE, the business hub of the Middle East. Both areas are seeking to do business with U.S. companies in a variety of industries including architecture, automotive, defense, engineering, environmental, IT, machinery, and medical equipment.

Ranging in cost from $6,000 (members) to $7,000 (non-members), the trip includes international airfare, five-star hotels, and transportation as well as benefits like matchmaking meetings, business briefings, receptions, and tours. Some participants may also be eligible for an up to 50 percent discount through the Michigan Economic Development Corp.

“Automation Alley hosts in-country business receptions where our companies can meet with government officials and business leaders who will share firsthand insights about the opportunities and challenges of doing business in each market we travel to,” Nevshehir says. “Some of the organizations include, but are not limited to, the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Embassy, and AmCham, as well as other independent in-country service providers.”

Since 2001, Automation Alley has led a total of 156 companies on 22 trade missions around the world, resulting in more than $412 million in export sales for participating companies.

The deadline to register for the trade mission is Oct. 20. For more information click here.
