Automation Alley, a Troy-based technology and manufacturing business association, accepted an invitation from the Office of the Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and the U.S.- U.A.E. Business Council to host an information session regarding opportunities to participate in the USA Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Expo 2020 is scheduled to take place between Oct. 2020 and April 2021. It will be the first expo, formerly the World’s Fair, ever held in the Middle East. The World’s Fair started in 1791 in Prague, and has mainly been an industrial exhibition where countries display advances in manufacturing, technology, and products.

Among the more famous exhibitions in the U.S. were the World’s Columbian Exhibition held in 1893 in Chicago, the 1939 New York World’s Fair, and the 1964/1965 New York World’s Fair (the latter showcasing the debut of the Ford Mustang).

Expo 2020 Dubai is expected to attract 25 million visitors, including seven million to the USA Pavilion. The theme of Expo 2020 is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future,” with sub-themes of opportunity, mobility, and sustainability.

Automation Alley’s information session is designed to generate awareness among the financial, commercial, arts, higher education, and philanthropic communities about participating in the USA Pavilion as well as highlighting opportunities for the United States to host future expos. For the 2025 Expo, proposals have been submitted by Houston, San Francisco, New York, as well as Paris, Rotterdam, London, and Toronto.

The information session will be held on March 14 from 8:30 am-10:30 am at Automation Alley. There is no charge to attend, but registration is required. Registration and additional information can be found on the Automation Alley website.
