Athletic Republic, one of the nation’s leading sports training franchises, will be part of the 16,600-square-foot Kennedy Athletics facility when it opens officially on Feb. 8 in Commerce Township.

The center, which will be offering free trials the week of Jan. 27, will cater to athletes of all ages looking to gain a competitive edge with access to science-based training methods proven to increase speed, power, agility, and stamina.

A grand opening celebration is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Kennedy Athletics is owned and operated by Ginger and Tim Kennedy, parents of local student athletes.

Ginger has been a teacher and coach for more than 20 years and says she is passionate about helping young athletes prosper and develop as they grow in their sport. Tim played various high school sports and college lacrosse. He also played with the Detroit Rugby Football Club for nearly 30 years, and has coached youth football, lacrosse, and rugby.

“Kennedy Athletics is dedicated to enhancing your abilities, no matter your level,” says Ginger Kennedy. “We want to bring the community together to enjoy sports and camaraderie while advancing everyone’s game.”

The center will offer student athletes an acceleration training program designed to meet the needs of specific sports, including lacrosse, soccer, volleyball, baseball, track, and softball. The new center will in specialize in hockey training utilizing a skating treadmill.

Adults will be offered the AR-FIT program to stay in shape, get stronger, and move better. In addition, the Return2Play training program will fully prepare individuals for a return to activity or competition following ACL surgery.

The facility also will offer turf and other facility rentals, virtual reality training, cryotherapy, physical therapy services, and a cycling program. Seasonal sport-specific camps and clinics also will also be offered, as well as college recruitment guidance for student-athletes wanting to play at the next level.
