Warren-based Art Van Furniture has named Edward Foxworth III director of its new Art of Selling Institute, an online sales course for high school and college students.

“Edward Foxworth has the passion, drive, and experience to execute my vision of inspiring a new generation to proudly choose sales as a career,” says Art Van Elslander, founder and chairman of Art Van Furniture and the creator of the institute. “Our shared goal is to ignite the pride, purpose, and prestige of sales in students.”

In his new position, Foxworth will oversee the development of the institute’s curriculum, create marketing strategies to promote the program, and work with higher education institutions to promote and place the program.

Foxworth has served on the faculty of the University of Phoenix. He also has served as the executive director of the Detroit Police Athletic League, a broadcast journalist at Detroit’s CBS-62 and CW-50 TV, and as a contributor to Radio One’s Mildred Gaddis Show and WGPR’s Mason Radio Morning Show.

Foxworth holds master’s in business administration and adult education from the University of Phoenix.

Elslander says the Art of Selling Institute’s courses are scheduled to be completed and available to students in March. He says there are also plans to open a training center in Detroit within the next year.
