Ann Arbor will host an open house, called A2 Tech Trek, on June 12 for participants to learn more about the region’s growing technology sector. The event will include companies such as Google, Barracuda Networks, Pillar Technology, and others.

“The companies and organizations participating in A2 Tech Trek are creating jobs, attracting talent, and eager to welcome the public and show off why the best and brightest want to be part of creating these unique innovations being developed in Ann Arbor,” says Paul Krutko, president and CEO of Ann Arbor SPARK, a nonprofit that supports business acceleration activities and is the event host.

The inaugural event A2 Tech Trek will offer participants the opportunity to see demonstrations of the companies’ products, ask questions, and learn more about the region’s technology sector. About 24 companies and incubators are participating in the event, including software designer Menlo Innovations; Seelio, a company that makes online portfolios; and Nutshell, a software design firm.

“Tech Trek is an opportunity to step inside and see these organizations at work, ask questions, and develop a better understanding of what all this might mean for our town’s future,” says Rich Sheridan, CEO and chief storyteller of Menlo Innovations.

A2 Tech Trek starts at one of three check-in locations, Menlo Innovations, MLive Media Group, and Ann Arbor SPARK, and runs from 3-7 p.m.
