Ann Arbor-based NSF International, a food standards and testing company, today announced the completed acquisition of G+S Laboratory, a food and water testing center in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany.
“G+S Laboratory is an important part of NSF International’s strategy to serve testing clients in Germany and throughout Europe,” says Dr. Thomas Wilke, managing director of NSF Erdmann Analytics in Germany, who will oversee the lab’s operations. “This acquisition will enable us to continue enhancing and expanding our food and water testing services.”
The acquisition is the latest of several strategic moves designed to strengthen NSF’s food and water safety services in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In 2015, the organization acquired Erdmann Analytics, also in Rheda-Wiedenbrück.
The following year, NSF purchased Euro Consultants Group in Wavre, Belgium. Both acquisitions strengthen the organization’s consulting and technical services as well as its global laboratory network, which supports implementation programs to help protect and improve the safety of food, water, pharmaceuticals, dietary supplements, and the environment.
G+S Laboratory is an accredited food and water testing laboratory offering a variety of testing services, including food chemistry testing, food microbiology testing, and drinking water analysis. G+S was founded in 2006 through a merger of the Chemical Analytical Laboratory and the G+S Laboratory for Bacteriology and Food Hygiene. G+S Laboratory employs more than 40 people with backgrounds in chemistry, chemical engineering, histology, microbiology, and food technology.
NSF International, founded in 1944, was spun off from the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health as the National Sanitation Foundation. The organization, which serves customers in more than 150 countries, has more than 2,100 employees, including microbiologists, toxicologists, chemists, engineers, and environmental and public health professionals.
