An Amazon 4-star location is opening today at the Somerset Collection in Troy. It is the first in metro Detroit and the 12th in the country. The store offers a curated selection of products from the top categories across Amazon.com including devices, consumer electronics, toys, games, books, kitchen, home, and more.
The store is on the second floor of the north side of the mall near Nordstrom.
All of the products are selected by an Amazon team of curators and are rated four stars and above, are top sellers, or are new and trending on Amazon.com. The team looks at pre-orders, sales, trends, customer reviews, and ratings. As of today, the products at the Somerset location have an average 4.46-star rating.
“Amazon 4-star is built around the tastes and preferences of our customers – what they’re buying and what they’re loving,” says Celeste Donahoe, director of physical retail for Amazon. “Since we are limited by our physical space – unlike the vast and unlimited selection of Amazon.com – we look at customer ratings, reviews, and sales data of the hundreds of millions of products sold to curate our store with only the best products for customers. Everything in store is rated 4 stars or higher, or is a top seller, or is new and trending on Amazon.com. This makes Amazon 4-star the perfect place for customers to discover great products they’ll love.”
Review cards that have customer quotes on them are throughout the store. Customers can test Amazon devices and accessories in the store. Digital price tags for every product show the price, the Prime price as well as Prime member savings, the average star rating, and the total number of reviews a product has received. Customers can sign up for 30-day Amazon Prime trials in store.
The first Amazon 4-star store opened in New York City in September 2018. There are more than 60 other Amazon brick and mortar locations that also include Amazon Books, Amazon Pop Up, Amazon Go, and Amazon Go Grocery.
