tThe new North American headquarters of Aisin World Corp. of America and Aisin Technical Center of America officially opened on Monday in Northville Township.

tThe 200,000-square-foot building brings together the two organizations, which were previously based in two separate facilities in Plymouth Township.

tAisin has invested nearly $250 million in Michigan since the Tier 1 automotive components manufacturer first located here in 1984. More than 700 people are employed at five Aisin Group company locations in Ann Arbor, Plymouth, Fowlerville, and Northville Township.

t"Business has been very good over the last few years, and we expect continued growth," says John Koenig, Aisin's president of sales and marketing. "We not only outgrew our facilities, but it became logistically challenging to have our team located in two separate buildings. Now we're all under one roof, which will improve team communication, and ensure that our company vision: 'to be an irreplaceable global partner to our customers' is maintained."

tKoenig says the two companies expect to about 50 jobs in the coming months.

t“The new North American headquarters for AWA and ATC-A will enable our team to provide increased levels of efficiency, engineering services, and product development for the benefit of our customers,” Koenig says.

tWorldwide, the $31-billion company employs 80,000.
