Drawing on the success of “Shark Tank” and similar shows, a business consulting firm in Dearborn is seeking small- to medium-sized businesses to participate in a reality TV show.

The basis of the show will center on life challenges a business has to face in its daily life and how owners, managers, and employees work to overcome the obstacles.

The show also will focus on family members and how they impact and interact with a respective business. The show plans to deal with cash flow, hiring, problem employees, profits, marketing and sales, and other operations.

The participants of the show will get exposure for their business on a local and national level.

Some of the rules to be selected for the show include: applicants to the show must have been in business for a minimum of three years, and have employees who are willing to be recorded at their place of business or home.

There will be no fee to apply to be a participant on the show.

“This is our first show,” says John Hopper, founder and CEO of The Greatest on the Planet in Dearborn. “We are working with a production company out of Miami, and we are working to secure the companies to be featured on the show. To tell you how long each show will be is an unknown at this point.

“We are requesting applicants submit their initial applications by Aug. 31, and we are hoping to begin a filming schedule starting in October. With the current state of COVID-19 and it being on the rise, we do understand that it might get pushed back but we’re prepared to tell everyone that is the case before they actually agree to filming.”

“The basis for the show is to help small businesses with the challenges that they face but really put the emphasis on the families and how everyone is affected by the challenges of a struggling business and it will be our duty on the show to help them,” says Hopper.

“Let’s say it’s a restaurant, for example, that is struggling because sales are slow. We will actually help them increase sales on the show, and while we’re doing that, we might interview (a husband or a wife) who talks about how hard this has been on their family.

“We want the viewer to see the struggles, but also the wins. At the end of filming, though, we will have turned things around for them. That’s what we do. We want them to win in their business and that’s what they will get out of it, totally free. This of course could be a restaurant or a construction company or any type of business actually.”
