I Luv Cheese, a new fast casual, create-your-own pasta bar, will open its first location in Clinton Township on Aug. 29, and its second location in downtown Detroit on Sept. 6.

“Hall Road is a magnificent road to be on. I call it ‘restaurant road,’ ” says Omar Mitchell, executive chef at I Luv Cheese. “With downtown Detroit and all the things happening with the Tigers, Lions, the new Red Wings stadium, all of the increase of building and development, corporate companies moving downtown, I thought it was a great opportunity for (I Luv Cheese) to move there.”

At 2,000 square feet, the Clinton Township restaurant, to be located at 2028 Hall Rd., will offer a menu that allows guests to create their own pasta by choosing from a variety of noodles, sauces, cheeses, herbs, and 50 different toppings, such as ham, fried eggs, spinach, lobster tail, tofu, shrimp, steak, mixed olives, sundried tomatoes, and quinoa. All pastas come with a side of the restaurant’s Old World Crusty Flat Bread, which is brushed with garlic-infused extra virgin olive oil.

Snacks, such as mac and cheese fireballs, and spinach and artichoke cheese dip; and salads, including a classic Caesar, cool kale, and Eastern Market option, will also be available.

The 6,000-square-foot Detroit restaurant, located at 1368 Broadway St., will offer the same menu items as the Clinton Township restaurant as well as a craft beverage bar, which will feature homemade milkshakes, fresh-squeezed juices, and homemade soda.

Both restaurants will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and have yellow “cheddar” painted walls, red “roasted pepper” floors, and Edison lightbulb chandeliers.

I Luv Cheese will hold a hiring fair on Sept. 1 at its Clinton Township location and Aug. 31 at its Detroit location. The restaurant is looking to fill 70 positions.

Mitchell, who has been in the restaurant business since 1991, is also the co-owner of the Detroit-based Great Lakes Burger Bar, 18200 W. McNichols Rd., which offers a create-your-own burger concept. The restaurant opened its second location, 5726 N. Middle Belt Rd., in Garden City this May.
