American Expedition Vehicles, a company that designs and manufactures Jeep accessories and vehicle packages, has completed its move from its Commerce Township facility to a new 110,000-square-foot headquarters in Wixom.

Due to its fast growth trajectory, the new facility, located at 51960 W. 12 Mile Rd., is the third building the company has been in within the past five years.

“We have expanded both our Jeep Wrangler and HD Ram truck product offerings and our vehicle conversion lineup considerably during that time, which helped increase both our domestic and international network of dealers considerably,” says Matt Feldermann, marketing manager for American Expedition Vehicles. “With a expanded distribution network and increased accessibility to our products and vehicles came an increase in consumer demand, so we had to increase capacity.”

The new facility will be used to fulfill orders for the company’s line of Dodge Ram pickup conversions, such as its newest release, the Prospector XL (based on Ram 2500/4500). The Prospector XL features the company’s DualSport suspension system, heavy duty stamped steel front bumper, heat reduction hood, aggressively wide fender flares, and 40-inch tall tires.

Feldermann says the larger size of the facility will allow American Expedition Vehicles to hire more sales and support staff, product designers, engineers, and technicians.

The company will host an open house for its new facility form 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 28. American Expedition Vehicles staff will provide tours of the new building and a variety of vehicles will be on display. Giveaways, beverages, and menu items from Bigalora’s food truck will also be available.

American Expedition Vehicles was founded in 1997 in Montana. In 2006, the company expanded into the Detroit market, and established an office, vehicle build facility, and warehouse. Today, more than 90 percent of American Expedition Vehicles’ products are made within 200 miles of Detroit, and, from a product development standpoint, the company is starting to look ahead at the next generation Jeep Wrangler.
