Detroit automaker General Motors Co. today announced technical, chassis, and appearance upgrades for the 2018 Cadillac XTS. The luxury sedan will be equipped with a dynamic chassis that can accommodate both 19- and 20-inch tires. An increased amount of sound insulators and the updated chassis aims to reduce cabin noise in the vehicle and provide a better travelling environment.
Additionally, the new XTS model will also have Magnetic Ride Control and Rear Air Leveling options available for improved handling.
The automaker also plans to improve personalization via their updated next-generation Cadillac user experience, a technology system that debuted in the 2017 CTS model.
The new layout operates on an eight-inch touchscreen, and is intended to resemble smartphone functionality, with all the system’s main apps displayed on one screen. Several software features are housed in the system, including an available 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capable of connecting to seven devices at once, smartphone navigation that includes points of interest, live traffic information, fuel prices, and Apple CarPlay.
“Cadillac pioneered connectivity by bringing OnStar to market, and more recently we became the first luxury brand to enable Apple CarPlay and Android Auto across our product line,” says Richard Brekus, Cadillac director of product strategy. “This next-generation user experience system delivers more improvements, focused mainly on intuitive control.”
The vehicle will also feature multiple interior and exterior customization options to maximize individual style and comfort.
Cadillac has also added to its lineup of interior colors, including a modified rendition of jet black with shale, and maple sugar with jet black accents for platinum models and above. Platinum models will be equipped with leather wrapped interior, premium wood trim, and power-adjustable seats with ventilation and massage capabilities. Platinum models also feature a new platinum grille, illuminating door handles, and Rainsense automatic wipers.
