Next month, new matte-finish exterior paint colors will be offered on the 2016 Dodge Viper, providing customers with 16,000 paint options and more than 48,000 unique stripe combinations.

“Now, by adding 8,000 new matte finish options to our high-end, hand-built, hand-painted super car, we’re continuing at the forefront of the matte paint trend by offering so many variations, colors, and even a metallic finish …” says Tim Kuniskis, president and CEO of Dodge and SRT brands for FCA US.

Kuniskis says the painting process begins with the application of a base coat color followed by a clear finish. The body panel is then sanded and polished. He says in order to achieve a matte finish; each body panel is sanded for a second time before the matte clear paint is applied.

In turn, all 2016 Dodge Viper models will also be available with stripes. GT, GTC, GTS, and ACR models offer optional stripes that run the length of the vehicle from the front to rear fascia. The SRT and GTC models are available with stripes starting on the hood and ending on the rear hatch. Exterior stripes are offered in black, silver, white, pearl, and red.

Dodge has created a Viper GCT Customizer, which allows customers to design a personalized vehicle. The matte exterior paint options will be available to view on the GTC Customizer beginning in the third quarter of 2015.

Orders for the new matte finish Vipers will open at Dodge dealerships in July.
