Alderney Advisors' Fall Appreciation Reception 2015

More than 100 people attended an appreciation event held at the Belle Isle Casino by Southfield-based Alderney Advisors on Nov. 4. Guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and music by the group NUCLASSICA.

USA-China Business Forum 2015

The Detroit Chinese Business Association hosted its USA-China Business Forum on Sept. 21 at the Troy Marriott. More than 500 attendees listened to a panel discussion about attracting more foreign investment in Michigan and how to build effective, long-lasting global business partnerships.

Will Leather Goods Opening

Will Leather Goods, a store that sells leather bags and accessories, opened on Nov. 2 in the former location of the Tomboy grocery store along Second Avenue in Detroit’s Midtown district. The 9,000-square-foot store features leather accessories, an event and art space, and a coffee bar.

Ransom Gillis Mansion Unveiling

HGTV's Rehab Addict Nicole Curtis unveiled the renovated Ransom Gillis mansion, a 139-year-old Venetian Gothic home, in Detroit's Brush Park neighborhood prior to the public opening on Nov. 1. The process of restoring the house will be aired as an eight-part series on HGTV called "Rehab Addict: Detroit."

Tour de Fork 2015

The Children's Center in Detroit hosted Tour de Fork on Sept. 18 at The Garden Theater in Midtown. More than 250 guests were treated to culinary stations, microbrews, craft cocktails, and performances by Twisted Root Revival, Pato Motown, Nicole New, DJ Prevu, and others.

DBusiness 30 in Their Thirties Breakfast 2015

DBusiness magazine hosted a breakfast featuring the 30 in Their Thirties class of 2015 at Planterra in West Bloomfield on Oct. 27. Guests enjoyed a strolling breakfast and a presentation on company culture by keynote speaker and former 30 in Their Thirties honoree, Linzie Venegas, vice president of Ideal Group in southwest Detroit.

Cattle Baron's Ball 2015

On Sept. 26, the American Cancer Society held its annual Cattle Baron's Ball at Cobo Center in downtown Detroit, where it raised more than $1.4 million. Some 700 guests enjoyed culinary selections from several of the region's top restaurants, silent and live auctions, rodeo activities, and a live performance by The Swon Brothers.

Michigan State Fair VIP Reception and Charity Preview

The Michigan State Fair held its annual VIP reception and charity preview at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi on Sept. 3 ahead of the State Fair. The invite-only event offered special access to local children who are undergoing treatment at Shriners Hospitals for Children.

5th Annual Grape Expectations for Kids

More than 250 people attended The Guidance Center's wine pairing dinner on Sept. 24 at the Colony Club in downtown Detroit to benefit its Kids-TALK Children's Advocacy Center, a program that provides guidance for children who are suspected victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, or neglect. The event raised $45,000 for the center.

The Art of Detroit at Saks Fifth Avenue

Saks Fifth Avenue in Troy held a fundraiser for the College of Creative Studies in Detroit on Aug. 21. Guests enjoyed entertainment by Ben Sharkey, cocktails, and cuisine from local restaurants.
