Wine and Dine in the D 2016

On Sept. 21, the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation held its annual Wine and Dine in the D fundraiser at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit. More than 400 guests enjoyed fine wine, food stations, and a silent auction.

Figure Skating in Detroit

Over 150 guests gathered at the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center in Detroit, to celebrate the launch of Figure Skating in Detroit, a local non-profit organization that helps young girls learn to figure skate, and gain academic and leadership skills. Guests enjoyed live music, food and beverages, and a presentation about the group's plans for the city.

Corks and Forks 2017

The ninth annual Corks and Forks event was hosted on Saturday, February 25, by local non-profit Winning Futures at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. Winning Futures offers school-based programs and mentorship workshops for middle and high school students throughout Southeast Michigan.

Honor the Legacy 2017

Over 100 people gathered at the Detroit Institute of Arts on Wednesday, February 22 to view a documentary honoring the life and legacy of Earl Lloyd, the first African American to play in the National Basketball Association. NBA greats including Isiah Thomas, Jalen Rose, Derrick Coleman, and former Detroit mayor Dave Bing were also in attendance.

FIRST Robotics Competition 2017

Detroit Hispanic Development Corp., a nonprofit youth services organization in southwest Detroit, held its FIRST Robotics Competition Kick Off on Feb. 21. The event, which drew more than 200 people, was sponsored by General Motors Co., Ideal Group, AISIN, Comcast, John E. Green Co., and Szegedi's.

Roeper Gala 2017

Over 500 guests attended the Roeper Gala and Golden Apple Awards on Feb. 17 to celebrate the 75th anniversary and honor the legacies of George and Annemarie Roeper, founders of the Roeper School in Bloomfield Hills. The event was hosted at the Royal Oak Music Theatre and featured student performances, as well as an award ceremony for Golden Apple recipients Bryan Stevenson, Rudy Simons, Shamayim Harris, and Sally Booth.

Macomb County Business Awards

The fifth annual Macomb County Business Awards was hosted by County Executive Mark Hackel and the The Macomb County Department of Planning and Urban Development on Feb. 14. The breakfast event was held at the Palazzo Grande in Shelby Township and honored local businesses for their work in diversification, efficiency, innovation, and workforce development.

DCBA Gala 2017

The Detroit Chinese Business Association hosted their annual Chinese New Year Gala at the Grand Riverview Ballroom at Detroit's Cobo Center on Feb. 11. Close to 500 guests rang in the Year of the Rooster and enjoyed an evening of networking, celebration, and live music.

Detroit’s Boxing Legends Grand Opening

Over 150 people gathered for the grand opening of an exhibit honoring Detroit's boxing legends, including Jonathan Banks, Leeonzer Barber, Tommy Hearns, and many others. The event was held at the Brown and Juanita C. Ford Art Gallery in Detroit and hosted by the Wayne County Community College District's School of Continuing Education. The exhibit is currently open through Feb. 28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Detroit Secret Sessions 2017

Detroit Secret Sessions: Take One was held at the Jam Handy Film Studios in Detroit on February 7. The evening featured pianist Ivan Moshchuk playing solo piano works of Schubert, DiChiera, and Brahms, as well as an art installation by Lisa Spindler and a wine and cheese reception.
