Mary T. Barra

Chairman and CEO

Barra became the first female chief executive to lead a major automaker when she was named CEO in January 2014. She was elected chairman of the GM Board of Directors in January 2016. When Dan Ammann became CEO of GM Cruise LLC in this month, Barra assumed responsibility for GM’s global regions. She is an engineer who has worked for GM for more than 30 years. Previously, she was executive vice president of global product development, purchasing and supply chain, and senior vice president, global product development. In these roles, she was responsible for the design, engineering, program management, and quality of GM vehicles around the world. Barra has also served as vice president, global human resources; vice president, global manufacturing engineering; and manager of the Detroit Hamtramck assembly plant.


Dan Ammann

President

Ammann became CEO of GM’s autonomous vehicle subsidiary GM Cruise on Jan. 1. GM subsequently eliminated the role of president. He had been responsible for managing the company’s business operations around the world, as well as Cruise and GM Financial. He led the sale of Opel to PSA Groupe in 2017 and the 2018 restructuring of GM Korea and has overseen several other changes in GM’s global footprint as well as actions to improve core operating performance. Ammann joined GM in April 2010 as vice president, finance, and treasurer, where his first assignment was to manage GM’s initial public offering. He was named president in 2014. Before joining GM, the New Zealand native was managing director and head of industrial investment banking for Morgan Stanley and spent five years at Credit Suisse in New York and New Zealand.

 

Alan Batey

Executive Vice President, President North America

Batey served as interim chief marketing officer and vice president, U.S. sales and service, where he was responsible for improving customer satisfaction, dealer profitability, and resale value. He was also vice president, U.S. Chevrolet sales and service. Batey has held senior management positions of increasing responsibility for GM in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, The Netherlands, Germany, Korea, and Australia. He began his GM career in 1979 as a mechanical engineering apprentice for Vauxhall.

 

Mike Devereux

Executive Vice President, SAIC-GM-Wuling, GM China

Devereux is based at SAIC-GM-Wuling’s headquarters in Liuzhou, Guangxi, and reports to Matt Tsien, GM executive vice president and president of GM China. Drawing on his experience in sales, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, and product development, Devereux plays a key role in strengthening SAIC-GM-Wuling’s brands and the growth of its product lineup. He most recently served as VP, sales, marketing, and aftersales at GM International. Devereux also led GM Holden Ltd.

 

Barry Engle

Executive Vice President, GM International

As VP and president, South America since 2015, Engle was responsible for GM’s operations in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela. In October 2017 his responsibilities expanded to include all GM operations outside of North America and China. Engle has been president of Ford of Brazil and Mercosul, and CEO of Agility Fuel Systems in Santa Ana, Calif.; Think Holdings, based in Oslo, Norway; and New Holland Agricultural Equipment in Turin, Italy.

 

Craig Glidden

Executive Vice President and General Counsel

Glidden leads a team of attorneys who serve GM’s regional and functional operations in more than 30 countries. Previously, he was executive vice president and chief legal officer for LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest plastics, chemical, and refining companies. He has also served as senior vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary of Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. Glidden received a Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University and a juris doctor with high honors from Florida State University.

 

Stefan Jacoby

Executive Vice President, President, GM International

With nearly 30 years of international experience, Jacoby leads GM’s international operations in more than 100 countries and territories in Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East. Before coming to GM, he served as global CEO and president at Volvo Car Corp. and led a successful turnaround and transformation as the CEO of Mitsubishi Motors in Europe, and also as CEO of Volkswagen in the United States. Jacoby has extensive experience in finance, sales, and marketing.

 

Mark L. Reuss

Executive Vice President, Global Product Group and Cadillac

Reuss was named to this expanded position on June 21, 2018. He is responsible for leading the company’s global design, engineering, safety, quality, research and development, advanced vehicle technology, purchasing and supply chain organization, as well as the product planning
and program management of General Motors cars, trucks, and crossovers around the world. Reuss also is responsible for complete alignment between product development and the Cadillac brand.

 

Chuck Stevens

Executive Vice President, CFO

Stevens , who retires in March, leads GM’s global financial and accounting operations. He was previously CFO of GM North America, with responsibility for U.S. sales, service, and marketing; GM Canada; GM de Mexico; North America Manufacturing; Customer Care and Aftersales; and OnStar. He was also interim CFO of GM South America from late 2011 to early  2013. Stevens began his GM career in 1983 at Buick. He served as finance director of GM Shanghai.

 

Dhivya Suryadevara

Executive Vice President, CFO

Appointed in September 2018, Suryadevara is responsible for leading the company’s global financial and accounting operations, and corprate development teams. She was named VP, corporate finance, in July 2017 and was responsible for investor relations, corporate financial planning and analysis, and special projects. As VP, finance ,and treasurer from 2015-2017, Suryadevara oversaw capital planning, capital market activities, worldwide banking, and management of GM’s employee pension plans.

 

Matt Tsien

Executive Vice President, President, GM China

Based in Shanghai, Tsien oversees GM’s business in China, including its 10 joint ventures. He also serves on the boards of SAIC-GM-Wuling, FAW-GM and Shanghai OnStar. As VP of planning and program management for GM China, and GM Consolidated International Operations and Strategic Alliances for China, he was GM’s leading voice across the region and helped oversee the growth of its product lineup. Tsien also served as executive VP of the company’s SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture.

 

Alicia Boler-Davis

Executive Vice President, Global Manufacturing

Boler-Davis’s responsibilities include manufacturing operations, manufacturing engineering, and labor relations. She is
a member of GM’s senior leadership team and reports to GM CEO and Chairman Mary Barra. Previously, Boler-Davis was senior vice president, global connected customer experience. In February 2012, she was appointed U.S. vice president, customer experience. Her role was later expanded to vice president, global quality and U.S. customer experience.

 

Daniel E. Berce

Senior Vice President, President and CEO, GM Financial

Berce has held these positions at GM Financial since October 2010, when General Motors purchased the company. Previously, he served as vice chairman, president, treasurer, CEO, and CFO of AmeriCredit Corp. Before that, Berce was an auditor with Coopers & Lybrand for nearly 16 years and was a partner with the firm. Prior to joining AmeriCredit, Berce was an auditor with Coopers & Lybrand for 14 years and was a partner with the firm. He is a CPA and a graduate of Regis University in Denver.

 

Kimberly (Kim) J. Brycz

Senior Vice President, Global Human Resources

Appointed on March 12, 2018, Brycz succeeds Jose Tomas, who left the company. She leads an HR team and systems that build enterprise-wide employee engagement, develop talent, and support strategic planning at all levels. Previously, she served as executive director, global product purchasing. Brycz began her GM career in 1983 with the Cadillac Motor Car Division in Detroit and has held various positions including the global purchasing lead for electrical systems, batteries, and hybrids and interiors.

 

Stephen K. Carlisle

Senior Vice President and President, Cadillac

Carlisle was appointed to this position on April 18, 2018. He replaces Johan de Nysschen, who left the company. Carlisle had been president and managing director of GM Canada since Nov. 20, 2014.  He began his GM career in 1982 as an industrial engineering co-op student at the Oshawa, Canada  truck assembly plant. He has served as VP of global product planning and program management, VP of U.S. sales operations, and president and managing director of Southeast Asia operations. Carlisle plays in the GM Canada Salaried Hockey League.

 

Tony Cervone

Senior Vice President, Global Communications

As GM’s top communications executive, Cervone is responsible for the company’s overall global communications strategy, including products and brands, corporate, social media, executive support, and internal communications. He also oversees GM’s corporate giving activities. Cervone is a member of the executive leadership team and is a senior adviser to CEO Mary Barra. Previously, he  held  key communications positions at Volkswagen Group of America, working on the VW and Audi brands, and United Airlines in Chicago.

 

Everett Eissenstat

Senior Vice President, Global Public Policy

Effective August 2018, Eissenstat is responsible for leading General Motors’ engagement on key policies impacting the company’s business, its customers, and its employees. Before joining GM, he worked in the White House as the deputy assistant to the president for international economic affairs, and deputy director of the National Economic Council. He was the lead U.S. negotiator for the G-20, APEC, and G-7 international economic summits.

 

Steve Kiefer

Senior Vice President, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain

Kiefer continues to build on the progress GM has established with its suppliers. His extensive leadership experience in the supplier community and strong technical expertise will be key as GM continues its efforts to reshape how the company and its suppliers work together, partner for mutual success, and deliver greater value to customers. Kiefer reports to Mark Reuss, executive vice president, Global Product Development, Purchasing and Supply Chain. Previously, Kiefer was VP, Global Powertrain.

 

Randall D. Mott

Senior Vice President, Global Information Technology, Chief Information Officer

Mott is responsible for the company’s global IT strategy and all IT assets. He is a member of the executive leadership team and reports to Mary Barra. Before coming to GM in February 2012, Mott was executive VP and CIO of Hewlett- Packard, where he was responsible for all IT, including company-wide application development, data management, technology infrastructure, and telecom networks worldwide. Mott also had IT leadership positions at Dell Inc. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

 

Jose Tomas

Senior Vice President, GM Global Human Resources

Tomas was appointed to this position in July 2017 and becomes a member of GM’s senior leadership team. He succeeds John Quattrone, who retired in September 2017 after 41 years of service. Tomas joined GM after 20 years of HR experience in other industries. Before joining GM, he served as the executive VP and chief human resources officer for Anthem Inc., Burger King Corp., where he led human resources, communications, and security; and held human resources positions at Ryder System and Publix.

 

Travis Hester

President, Managing Director, GM Canada

Appointed in April 2018, Hester succeeds Stephen Carlisle and reports to Alan Batey, president, GM North America. Prior to his current position, he held the position of VP, global chief engineers and program management, where he led a team of chief engineers and program managers overseeing vehicles from inception to launch and beyond. Earlier, Hester was the executive chief engineer for Cadillac premium luxury vehicles and worked exclusively on new Omega architecture and the Cadillac CT6.

 

Sanjiv Gupta

President, Managing Director, GM India

Gupta joined GM in 2003, working in critical roles in automotive financing, business planning, corporate finance and treasury, and decision support in the U.S. and Canada. Among his key roles were director of North America financial planning and analysis, and director of U.S. sales operations finance. Gupta was appointed CFO of GM India in 2016. He has an MBA from Ivey Business School in Canada and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in industrial engineering from Thapar University in India.

 

Ernesto Hernandez

President, Managing Director, General Motors de Mexico

Hernandez is responsible for GM’s operations in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. GM de Mexico is headquartered in Mexico City and has administrative, manufacturing, and warehousing facilities in the states of Mexico, Coahuila, Guanajuato, and San Luis. Hernandez became the first Mexican to serve in this role in the 83 years GM has been in the country. Prior to that, he was the GM de Mexico VP  and executive director for vehicle sales, service, and marketing. He began his career in 1980, in product engineering.

 

Kaher Kazem

President, CEO, GM Korea

Kazem began his career with GM in 1995 at GM Holden in Australia as a senior engineer, and later held several leadership positions there. He became VP of manufacturing and quality for GM Thailand/ASEAN in 2009. He was appointed president and managing director of GM Uzbekistan in 2012.  Kazem later became the president and managing director of GM India before assuming his current role.  He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Adelaide and an MBA from La Trobe University.

 

Hector Villarreal

President and Managing Director, GM Auto (Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States)

Villarreal began his career at GM de Mexico in 1990 as a manufacturing project engineer at the Ramos Arizpe assembly complex. Since then, he has held various positions in Mexico and the U.S., including manufacturing planning manager, industrial engineering director, and vehicle line director. He served as planning and program management director at GM de Mexico and VP of planning and program management at GM Korea. Villarreal has degrees from the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey.

 

Mike Ableson

Vice President, Electric Vehicle Charging & Infrastructure

Effective as of September 2018. Ableson is responsible for developing the partnerships, incentives, and investments needed to create the necessary electric vehicle charging infrastructure that will remove a critical barrier to the acceptance of electrification. Prior to this role,he was VP of Global Strategy. Previously, as vice president, global planning and program management, Abelson was responsible for leading the company’s worldwide product plans. He also was chief engineer for small trucks and mid-size trucks.

 

Santiago Chamorro

Vice President, Global Connected Customer Experience

Chamorro, the former president of GM Brazil, is responsible for the company’s global connectivity activities and reports directly to Chairman and CEO Mary Barra. Chamorro restructured GM Brazil, resulting in greater competitiveness and the growth of the Chevrolet brand. He also led the launch of the OnStar and Maven car-sharing platforms in Brazil, to try and strengthen GM’s leadership in connectivity and urban mobility. Since joining GM in 1993, Santiago has served in Colombia, Chile, Brazil, and the U.S.

 

Cathy Clegg

Vice President, GM Business Intelligence Group

Clegg has been instrumental in driving positive cultural change, forming strong union-management partnerships, leading labor negotiations, and advancing GM’s global manufacturing system. In her current position, Clegg applies her deep manufacturing and automotive experience and collaborative approach to align and support business priorities with policy strategy and engagement. Her most recent assignment was vice president, North America manufacturing and labor relations.

 

Jim Glynn

Vice President, Global Workplace Safety

Glynn’s team supports GM leadership in its mission to keep GM’s 171,000 employees, 85,000 contractors, and numerous visitors safe at its more than 243 sites worldwide.  During his 40-year career, Glynn has worked at seven plants with diverse manufacturing operations, including forging, die casting, machining, stamping, and vehicle assembly. Most recently, he worked in Singapore where he had responsibility for more than 70 plants located across nine time zones across Asia and Australia.

 

Rocky Gupta

Vice President, Treasurer

Gupta was named VP  and treasurer in August and added oversight of investor relations in September. He is responsible for leading the company’s global treasury operations, including capital planning, capital markets, operations, and worldwide banking activities. Before becoming treasurer, Gupta was the chief investment officer and CEO of General Motors Asset Management Corp. He joined GM as an engineering co-op student in 1987, and transitioned to the Treasurer’s Office in 1998.

 

Christopher T. Hatto

​Vice President, Controller, and Chief Accounting Officer

Effective in September 2018, Hatto is responsible for global leadership and oversight of external reporting, technical accounting matters, development of new accounting policies, and internal controls. He also is responsible for reporting financial results to the company’s senior leadership and the board of directors’ Audit Committee. Hatto joined GM in 2007 as an assistant controller. He held subsequent regional controllership positions and worked at Buick and GMC.

 

Stephen Hill

​Vice President, U.S. Sales and Service

U.S. sales chiefs for Chevrolet, Buick-GMC, and GM Fleet, as well as sales operations, report to Hill. He is also responsible for General Motors’ U.S. operations unit and fleet sales. Hill had been vice president of GM’s Customer Care and Aftersales division, which oversees vehicle service, parts, and other operations in GM’s North America retail network. He also served as general sales manager for the Premium Channel (Cadillac-Hummer-Saab). Hill began his GM career in 1983 at Cadillac.

 

Gerald Johnson

Vice President, North America Manufacturing and Labor Relations

Johnson is responsible for the safety, productivity, and quality performance of more than 80,000 employees at more than 40 assembly, stamping, propulsion, and component operations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Prior to his current role, Johnson served as VP of operational excellence. Under his leadership, a team of Lean Six Sigma experts developed a training initiative and coached employees in projects that saved GM millions and improved the overall efficiency of the company’s operations.

 

Ken Kelzer

Vice President, Global Vehicle Components and Subsystems

Kelzer’s role and organization comprise engineering operations, components development, advanced vehicle development, and other engineering business initiatives. He joined GM as an intern in 1982, and most recently was vice president of General Motors Europe’s powertrain engineering. Some of Kelzer’s prior roles include executive chief engineer of full-size and midsize vehicles, global vehicle chief engineer for rear-wheel drive and performance vehicles, and global functional leader of chassis and accessories.

 

Phil Kienle

Vice President, GM International and GM China Manufacturing

Kienle reports to Alicia Boler-Davis, executive vice president of global manufacturing. He has more than 30 years of extensive manufacturing experience and has held key positions for GM in the U.S. and Korea, China, Singapore, and Germany. Kienle was most recently based in Europe as vice president of Opel/Vauxhall manufacturing. He has a Bachelor of Science in civil and environmental engineering from Michigan State University and a Master of Science in manufacturing management from Kettering University.

 

Jon Lauckner

Vice President, Global R&D, Chief Technology Officer, President, General Motors Ventures LLC

Lauckner’s main focus is to drive technology and innovation into GM’s global product portfolio and to lead GM Ventures, the subsidiary formed in July 2010 to make equity investments in startup companies that are developing next-generation automotive technology. Lauckner had been vice president of global product planning and vice president of global program management. He joined General Motors in 1979 as an engineer at Buick. He holds an MBA in management from Stanford Business School.

 

Jeff Massimilla

Vice President, Global Cybersecurity

Since January 2018, Massimilla has led GM’s global cybersecurity organization, which encompasses both product and corporate cybersecurity functions across all areas of the business. Previously, he headed GM’s global product cybersecurity organization, which develops and implements protocols and strategies to reduce the risks associated with cybersecurity threats related to advanced technology vehicles and vehicle connected services. Massimilla also serves as chair of the AISAC.

 

Tony Francavilla

Vice President, Global Quality and Operational Excellence

Francavilla is responsible for leading GM’s global quality efforts, which are aimed at providing the highest-quality vehicles possible. In late 2017, his responsibilities expanded to include leadership over GM’s Operational Excellence. He brings to the role in-depth knowledge and global experience in manufacturing, engineering, and supplier quality. Prior to his new role, Francavilla served in a variety of senior roles within the Quality organization, including executive director of global supplier quality.

 

James E. Hentschel

Vice President, Global Product Integrity

Appointed in April 2018 and with 32 years of experience at GM, Hentschel oversees vehicle, powertrain, and electrical systems engineering as well as vehicle performance, industrial engineering, and validation. The organization also includes the Global Vehicle Safety and Supplier Quality groups.Hentschel has had several leadership positions at GM, including executive director, global functional leader body, and director, body and exterior. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Columbia.

 

​Ken Morris

Vice President, Global Product Programs

Since April 2018, Morris has led the team of executive chief engineers and program managers who oversee vehicles from inception to launch and beyond. Over the past 28 years, he has led the Global Product Integrity group that implements system integration and oversight across vehicle and propulsion systems, to deliver vehicles with consistent safety and compliance performance. Morris also has served as executive director, global functional leader chassis, and executive director, vehicle integration and Proving Grounds.

 

Dan Nicholson

Vice President, Global Propulsion Systems

Nicholson is responsible for the design, development, and testing of GM’s global propulsion systems, overseeing seven engineering centers in seven countries. Previously, he was executive director of powertrain controllers, software, and calibration. He also served as VP of quality, and VP of Global Propulsion Systems engineering in Europe. Previously he was executive director of powertrain integration in Europe, and chief engineer and program manager for GM’s small- and big-block engine programs.

 

Andreas Schaaf

Vice President, Cadillac China

Schaaf is a member of the Cadillac leadership team and has operational responsibility for the China Cadillac business. He reports directly to Cadillac Global President Steve Carlisle. Prior to this role, Schaaf served as VP, Cadillac Europe. Schaaf began his career at BMW AG in 1996 in product controlling, product management, and strategy. He became VP of sales and marketing in South Korea, and then, as president of BMW Group India, he introduced the Mini brand in the subcontinent.

 

Michael Simcoe

Vice President, GM Global Design

Simcoe had been vice president of GM international design since 2014. He joined GM in 1983 as a designer at Holden in Australia. In 2003, as executive director of Asia Pacific design, he led the development of the new GM Korea design operations. Simcoe later became executive director of North American exterior design, and was responsible for critical and commercial successes like the GMC Terrain, Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Camaro and Equinox, and Cadillac CTS.

 

Tim Turvey

Vice President, Global Customer Care and Aftersales

Turvey has global oversight for customer care and aftersales, including driving customer retention throughout the ownership lifecycle by ensuring global service engineering readiness for launch vehicles; service parts planning and procurement; the parts distribution network; and providing service, sales, and marketing support to the GM’s dealers and aftermarket channels. He previously served as executive director of GM North America Customer Care, and Aftersales sales and marketing.

 

Rick Westenberg

Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, SAIC-GM

Since August 2018, Westenberg has been in Shanghai and oversees all financial operations in China. Prior to this, he held several important leadership positions, including GM vice president and treasurer. Before becoming treasurer, Westenberg was executive director, corporate financial planning and analysis, with responsibility for GM’s financial forecasting, budgeting, and medium-term planning activities, as well as supporting the company’s global corporate staffs.

 

Kurt Wiese

Vice President, Global Manufacturing Engineering

Wiese’s global team of 5,000 has manufacturing engineering responsibility for automotive press, body, paint, assembly, controls, propulsion, and global program management. He has 40 years of experience in manufacturing and manufacturing engineering. His previous roles included executive director of product industrialization;  executive director, manufacturing engineering vehicle body center; and plant manager at the Oshawa (Canada) Truck Assembly facility.

 

Duncan Aldred

U.S. Vice President, Global Buick-GMC

Aldred is responsible for Buick-GMC sales, service, and marketing in the U.S. and oversees brand strategy globally. He had been chairman and managing director of Vauxhall Motors and CEO of Opel Ireland, based in Great Britain. Aldred joined GM in 1990 at Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port plant near Liverpool. He worked in various positions in Vauxhall sales and marketing before becoming Vauxhall retail sales director in 2004, and then managing director, and ultimately chairman of  Vauxhall Motors.

 

Paul Edwards

U.S. Vice President, Chevrolet Marketing

Edwards oversees all aspects of Chevrolet marketing in the U.S. He had been executive director of GM’s global marketing since 2010, and was responsible for Chevrolet global marketing, global media operations, agency management, marketing alliances, licensing, branded entertainment, and auto shows. Edwards began his GM career in 1992 at Cadillac, where he held a variety of sales and marketing positions. He was named manager of Chevrolet advertising in 2003.

 

Brian Sweeney

U.S. Vice President, Chevrolet

Sweeney is responsible for Chevrolet sales, service, and marketing in the U.S. He had been U.S. vice president, Buick-GMC sales and service since 2010. Sweeney joined GM in 1990 and held a series of sales and service assignments at GMC; Pontiac; and GM vehicle sales, service, and marketing before becoming vice president of Saab Cars USA in 2004. GM’s dealers credit Sweeney with boosting Buick’s lease business and raising customer service standards, including adding courtesy transportation for customers.

 

Ken J. Barrett

Global Chief Diversity Officer

As GM’s first globa chief diversity officer, Barrett leads the company’s diversity and inclusion portfolio, which includes workforce diversity strategy, empowering employee resource groups, and fostering an inclusive culture that promotes diversity of thought to help GM compete and win in the marketplace. Before joining GM in 2012, Barrett served as the undersecretary of defense’s acting director of the Office of Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity in Washington, D.C.

 

Tim Mahoney

Chief Marketing Officer, Global Chevrolet, Global GM Marketing Operations Leader

Mahoney has nearly 30 years of automotive industry marketing experience. His key responsibilities include executing Chevrolet’s brand platform, Find New Roads, and growing the Chevrolet brand worldwide. He began his automotive career in 1984 with Subaru of America Inc., where he served as director of marketing.
Mahoney joined VW as chief product and marketing officer in 2011, and was responsible for aligning the strategic direction of the brand’s product planning and promotional efforts in the U.S.

 

Jeffrey A. Taylor

Deputy General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer

Taylor leads GM’s ethics and compliance program, and supports GM’s business operations and leadership team through an organizational culture committed to integrity, ethical conduct, vehicle safety, and compliance with the law and company policies. Prior to joining GM in 2015 as deputy general counsel for federal oversight, Taylor was VP and general counsel of Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems. Earlier, he  was chief executive of Ernst & Young’s fraud investigation and dispute services practice in the Americas.
