Mary T. Barra
Chairman and CEO
Mary Barra became the first female chief executive to lead a major automaker when she was named CEO in 2014. She was elected chairman of the GM board of directors in 2016. She is an engineer who has worked for GM for more than 30 years. Previously, she was executive VP of global product development, purchasing and supply chain, and senior VP, global product development. She was responsible for the design, engineering, program management, and quality of GM vehicles around the world. Barra has also served as VP, global human resources; VP, global manufacturing engineering; and manager of the Detroit Hamtramck assembly plant. She serves on the board of directors of Walt Disney Co. and is co-chair of the Department of Transportation’s Advisory Committee on Automation in Transportation. Barra has a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Kettering University and an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
Dan Ammann is responsible for managing GM’s worldwide regional operations, the global Chevrolet and Cadillac brand organizations, global product planning, new business development, and GM Financial. Previously, as CFO, he led a transformation of GM’s finances and managed the strategy to rebuild the company’s captive finance capability through GM Financial. Ammann was named president in 2014. Before joining GM, the New Zealand native was managing director and head of industrial investment banking for Morgan Stanley, and spent five years at Credit Suisse in New York and New Zealand. Ammann is a certified test driver at the Nürburgring Nordschleife racetrack in Germany. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management studies (first class honors) from the University of Waikato in New Zealand. He is a member of the boards of directors of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. and Lyft Inc. Ammann has been an integral part of GM’s resurgence since the great recession.
Executive Vice President, President North America
Alan Batey served as interim chief marketing officer and VP, U.S. sales and service, where he was responsible for improving customer satisfaction, dealer profitability, and resale value. He was also VP, U.S. Chevrolet sales and service. Batey has held senior management positions of increasing responsibility for GM in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, The Netherlands, Germany, Korea, and Australia. He began his GM career in 1979 as a mechanical engineering apprentice for Vauxhall Motors Ltd. in the U.K.
Johan de Nysschen
Executive Vice President, President, Cadillac
Johan de Nysschen is responsible for all aspects of Cadillac, including: sales, pricing, and network development; strategic brand development and marketing; product planning, including providing critical input for product engineering and design; and overall business results. Previously, he was president of Infiniti Motor Co. and president of Audi of America Inc. He holds an MBA in marketing and finance from the University of Pretoria and a bachelor’s in commerce and economics from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.
Executive Vice President, SAIC-GM-Wuling, GM China
Mike Devereux is based at SAIC-GM-Wuling’s headquarters in Liuzhou, Guangxi, and reports to Matt Tsien, GM executive VP and president of GM China. Drawing on his experience in sales, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, and product development, he plays a key role in strengthening SAIC-GM-Wuling’s brands and the growth of its product lineup. He most recently served as VP, sales, marketing, and aftersales at GM International. Devereux served as chairman and managing director of GM Holden Ltd.
Executive Vice President, President, South America
Barry Engle is responsible for GM’s operations in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela. He was president of Ford of Brazil and Mercosul and, earlier, director of marketing, sales, and service for Ford of Brazil. Since 2011, Engle served as CEO of Agility Fuel Systems in Santa Ana, Calif. From 2010 to 2011 he was CEO of Think Holdings, based in Oslo, Norway, and from 2008 to 2010 he served as president and CEO of New Holland Agricultural Equipment, located in Turin, Italy.
Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Legal and Public Policy
Craig Glidden leads a team of attorneys who serve GM’s regional and functional operations in more than 30 countries. Previously, he was executive vice president and chief legal officer for LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest plastics, chemical, and refining companies. He has also served as senior vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary of Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. Glidden received a Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University and a juris doctor with high honors from Florida State University.
Executive Vice President, President, GM International
With nearly 30 years of international experience, Stefan Jacoby leads GM’s international operations in more than 100 countries and territories in Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East. Before coming to GM, he served as global CEO and president at Volvo Car Corp., and led a successful turnaround and transformation as CEO of Mitsubishi Motors in Europe and CEO of Volkswagen in the U.S. Jacoby has extensive experience in finance, sales, and marketing. He received his MBA from the University of Cologne.
Mark L. Reuss
Executive Vice President, Global Product Development, Purchasing, and Supply Chain
Mark Reuss leads the design, engineering, safety, quality, research and development, advanced vehicle technology, and program management for GM vehicles around the world. He also oversees GM’s global purchasing and supply chain organization, and is a member of the GM Executive Operations Committee and the board of Shanghai GM. From 2009-2013, Reuss was president of General Motors North America. In 2001 he created and led the GM Performance Division while serving as executive director of architecture engineering.
Executive Vice President, CFO
Chuck Stevens leads GM’s global financial and accounting operations. He was previously CFO of GM North America, with responsibility for U.S. sales, service, and marketing, GM Canada, GM de Mexico, North America Manufacturing, Customer Care, and OnStar. He was also interim CFO of GM South America from December 2011 to January 2013. Stevens began his GM career in 1983 at the Buick Motor Division. He served as finance director of GM Shanghai and held leadership positions in China, Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand.
Executive Vice President, President, GM China
Based in Shanghai, Matt Tsien oversees GM’s business in China, including its 11 joint ventures. He also serves on the boards of SAIC-GM-Wuling, FAW-GM, Shanghai OnStar, and GM Korea. Previously, as VP of planning and program management for GM China and GM Consolidated International Operations and Strategic Alliances for China, he was GM’s leading voice across the region and helped oversee the growth of its product lineup. Tsien also served as executive VP of the company’s SAIC-GM-
Wuling joint venture.
Executive Vice President, Global Manufacturing
Alicia Boler-Davis’ responsibilities include manufacturing engineering and labor relations. She’s a member of GM’s senior leadership team and the GM Korea board of directors. She reports to GM CEO and Chairman Mary Barra. Previously, Boler-Davis was senior VP, global connected customer experience, where she led the company’s connected customer activities, including infotainment, OnStar, and GM’s Urban Active personal mobility initiatives. In 2012, Boler-Davis was appointed U.S. VP, customer experience.
Daniel E. Berce
Senior Vice President, President and CEO, GM Financial
Daniel Berce has held the above positions at GM Financial since October 2010, when GM purchased the company. Previously, he served as vice chairman, president, treasurer, CEO, and CFO of AmeriCredit Corp. Before that, Berce was an auditor with Coopers & Lybrand for nearly 16 years and was a partner with the firm. Berce also serves as a member of the board of directors for Arlington Asset Investment Corp., a principal investment firm that invests in mortgage-related assets, and Cash America International Inc.
Senior Vice President, Global Communications
As GM’s top communications executive, Tony Cervone is responsible for the company’s overall communications strategy including products and brands, corporate, social media, executive support, and internal communications. He’s a member of the executive leadership team and is a senior adviser to Chairman and CEO Mary Barra. In 2011, Cervone had served as executive VP of group communications for Volkswagen Group of America in Herndon, Va., where he revamped communications activities for the VW and Audi brands.

Steve Kiefer continues to build on the progress GM has established with its suppliers. His extensive leadership experience in the supplier community and strong technical expertise will be key as GM continues its efforts to reshape how the company and its suppliers work together, partner for mutual success, and deliver greater value to customers. Kiefer reports to Mark Reuss, executive vice president, Global Product Development, Purchasing and Supply Chain. Previously, Kiefer was vice president, Global Powertrain.
Randall D. Mott
Senior Vice President, Global Information Technology, Chief Information Officer
Randall Mott is responsible for the company’s global IT strategy and all IT assets. He’s a member of the executive leadership team and reports to CEO Mary Barra. Before coming to GM in 2012, Mott was executive VP and chief information officer of Hewlett-Packard, where he was responsible for all IT, including companywide app development, data management, technology infrastructure, data center operations, and telecommunication networks, Mott has also served in IT leadership positions at Dell Inc. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
Senior Vice President, GM Global Human Resources
Jose Tomas was appointed to this position in July 2017 and became a member of GM’s senior leadership team. He succeeded John Quattrone, who retired in September 2017 after 41 years of service. Tomas joined GM after 20 years of HR experience in the health care, food service, retail grocery, and transportation and logistics industries. Before joining GM, he served as the executive VP and chief human resources officer for health benefit giant Anthem Inc. Prior to that, he was global chief people officer for Burger King Corp.
Stephen K. Carlisle
President, Managing Director, GM of Canada Co.
Stephen Carlisle provides direct and indirect oversight over business in Canada, including sales and marketing for all vehicle classes and brands, aftersales, dealer support, operations, manufacturing, and engineering. He most recently served as VP of global product planning and program management. Previously, he led U.S. sales operations and was responsible for the dealer network, retail sales support, and fleet and commercial. Carlisle was chair of the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers Association from 2014 to 2016.

Sanjiv Gupta joined GM in 2003, working in critical roles in automotive financing, business planning, corporate finance and treasury, and decision support in the U.S. and Canada. Among his key positions were director of North America financial planning and analysis, and director of U.S. sales operations finance. Gupta was appointed CFO of GM India in 2016. He has an MBA from Ivey Business School in Canada and a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Thapar University in India.
President, Managing Director, General Motors de Mexico
Ernesto Hernandez is responsible for GM’s operations in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. GM de Mexico is headquartered in Mexico City and has administrative, manufacturing, and warehousing facilities in the states of Mexico, Coahuila, Guanajuato, and San Luis Potosi. Hernandez became the first Mexican to serve in this role. Prior to that, he was the GM de Mexico vice president and executive director for vehicle sales, service, and marketing. He began his career in 1980, in product engineering.

Kaher Kazem began his career with GM in 1995 at GM Holden in Australia, where he was a senior engineer. Later, he held several leadership positions in GM Holden. He became VP of manufacturing and quality for GM Thailand/ASEAN in 2009, and was appointed president and managing director of GM Uzbekistan in 2012. He later became the president and managing director for GM India before assuming his current role. He has a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from the University of Adelaide, and an MBA from La Trobe University.

Hector Villarreal began his career at GM de Mexico in 1990 and served as a manufacturing project engineer. Since then, he has held various positions in Mexico and the U.S., including manufacturing planning manager, industrial engineering director, and vehicle line director. He was planning and program management director at GM de Mexico, and VP of planning and program management at GM Korea. Villarreal has degrees in mechanical and industrial engineering from Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Mexico.
Vice President, Global Strategy
Mike Ableson is primarily responsible for leading the Strategy Organization team, whose role is to look for opportunities to leverage GM’s technology advantage in the changing automotive industry and integrate across the entire business. The elite team recognizes connected vehicles, urban mobility, autonomous vehicles, and fuel cells as critical future business opportunities. Previously, as vice president, global planning and program management, Abelson was responsible for leading the company’s worldwide product plans.
Vice President, Sales Operations, GM International
Bunnell has experience in finance, manufacturing, portfolio planning, marketing/brand management, and sales. Known as a “dealer guy,” his assignments have included executive director of U.S. sales operations, VP of sales for Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe, and vice president of sales for Cadillac in North America. In 2007, he was named general manager of Pontiac, Buick, and GMC, and in 2008 he became general manager of GM’s U.S. sales support group, working with all GM brands. Bunnell joined GM in 1979.
Vice President, Global Connected Customer Experience
Santiago Chamorro, the former president of GM do Brazil, is responsible for the company’s global connectivity activities. He reports directly to Chairman and CEO Mary Barra. Chamorro restructured GM Brazil, resulting in greater competitiveness and the growth of the Chevrolet brand. He also led the launch of the OnStar and Maven platforms in Brazil. Chamorro is an economist at the University of the Andes in Bogota. Since joining GM in 1993, he has served in various assignments in Colombia, Chile, Brazil, and the U.S.
Vice President, GM Business Intelligence Group
Cathy Clegg has been instrumental in driving positive cultural change, forming strong union-management partnerships, leading critical negotiations, and advancing GM’s global manufacturing system. As VP, GM Business Intelligence Group, she will apply her deep manufacturing and labor experience and collaborative approach to lead this newly formed public policy unit. Her previous key assignments included VP, North America manufacturing and labor relations, and VP, global manufacturing engineering.
Vice President, Global Workplace Safety
Jim Glynn has more than 35 years of extensive experience in global manufacturing operations, labor relations, and manufacturing engineering, including his recent role as vice president of GM International and GM China manufacturing. He has held numerous leadership positions across GM North America, including plant leadership roles at Flint Assembly, Flint Stamping, Grand Blanc Stamping, and Parma Stamping. Glynn also served as executive director, global manufacturing engineering and program management.
Vice President, U.S. Sales and Service
U.S. sales chiefs for Chevrolet and Buick-GMC report to Stephen Hill. He’s also responsible for GM’s U.S. operations unit and fleet sales. Hill had been VP of GM’s Customer Care and Aftersales division, which oversees vehicle service, parts, and other operations in GM’s North America retail network. He also served as general sales manager for the Premium Channel (Cadillac-Hummer-Saab). Hill began his GM career in 1983 at Cadillac as a district service manager, and moved on to numerous positions within the company.
Vice President, North America Manufacturing and Labor Relations
Gerald Johnson oversees assembly, stamping, propulsion, and component operations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. He had served as VP of operational excellence since 2014. Other assignments included North America manufacturing VP and executive director of global program quality and launch, where he led several key quality initiatives involving global standardization, and worked on strategies to improve product launches and issue resolution. Johnson began at GM in 1980 at the Fisher Body plant in Euclid, Ohio.
Vice President, Global Vehicle Components and Subsystems
Ken Kelzer’s role and organization comprise engineering operations, components development, advanced vehicle development, and other engineering business initiatives. He joined GM as an intern in 1982 and, most recently, he was vice president of General Motors’ Europe powertrain engineering. Some of Kelzer’s prior titles include executive chief engineer of full-size and mid-size vehicles, global vehicle chief engineer for rear-wheel drive and performance vehicles, and global functional leader of chassis and accessories.
Vice President, GM International and GM China Manufacturing
Phil Kienle reports to Alicia Boler-Davis, executive vice president of global manufacturing. He has more than 30 years of extensive manufacturing experience, and has held key positions for GM in the U.S. and Korea, Australia, Africa, and China. Since 2016, Kienle had been based in Europe as vice president of Opel/Vauxhall manufacturing. He succeeds Jim Glynn, who is now vice president, global workplace safety. He is a graduate of Kettering University, worked for Ford and Toyota before joining GM, and is is a native of the UK.
Vice President, Global R&D, Chief Technology Officer, President, General Motors Ventures LLC
Jon Lauckner’s main focus is to drive technology and innovation into GM’s global product portfolio and to lead GM Ventures, the subsidiary formed in July 2010, to make equity investments in startup companies that are developing next-generation automotive technology. Lauckner had been vice president of global product planning and vice president of global program management. He joined General Motors in 1979 as an engineer at Buick. He holds an MBA degree in management from Stanford Business School.
Vice President, Global Vehicle Safety and Cybersecurity
Jeff Massimilla succeeds Jeffrey Boyer, who retired after 43 years. Massimilla was formerly GM’s chief cybersecurity officer, and led the global organization that develops and implements protocols and strategies to reduce the risks associated with cybersecurity threats related to vehicle and vehicle-connected services. In his new role, Massimilla adds global responsibility for the safety development of GM vehicle systems, confirmation and validation of safety performance, and post-sale safety activities, including recalls.
Vice President, Global Quality
Tony Francavilla is responsible for leading GM’s global quality efforts, which are aimed at providing the highest-quality vehicles possible. He brings to the role in-depth knowledge and global experience in manufacturing, engineering, and supplier quality. Prior to his current position, Francavilla served in a variety of senior roles within the quality organization, including executive director of global supplier quality. Before that, he was responsible for leading manufacturing operations at several GM assembly plants.
Vice President, Global Product Integrity
Ken Morris’ organization comprises vehicle, powertrain, and electrical systems engineering as well as vehicle performance, industrial engineering, and validation. The organization also includes the Global Vehicle Safety and Supplier Quality groups, and builds on specific actions GM has taken in recent years to lead the industry in vehicle dynamics — including ride and handling, steering, and braking. Morris, who joined GM in 1989 as a brake systems engineer, came from Borg Warner Automotive Transmission Systems.
Vice President, Global Propulsion Systems
Dan Nicholson is responsible for the design, development, and testing of GM’s global propulsion systems, overseeing seven engineering centers in seven countries. Previously, he was executive director of powertrain controllers, software, and calibration. He also served as vice president of quality from 2010 to 2011, and as vice president of Global Propulsion Systems (formerly GM Powertrain) engineering in Europe from 2008 to 2010. Another previous title includes executive director of powertrain integration in Europe.
Vice President, Cadillac China
Andreas Schaaf reports directly to Cadillac Global President Johan de Nysschen and has operational responsibility for the China Cadillac business. He continues as a member of the Cadillac leadership team. Prior to this role, Schaaf served as VP, Cadillac Europe. Schaaf started his career at BMW AG in 1996 in product controlling, product management, and strategy. He then moved to management and leadership positions in central marketing and sales for the Asia Pacific, Africa, and Eastern Europe regions.
Vice President, Portfolio Planning, GM Korea and GM International
Benoit Schlumberger joined GM in 1997 and has held product planning, business planning, new business development, aftersales, and purchasing positions in Europe and North America. He was also director of GME GMIA and portfolio planning, where he played a key role in defining the Opel/Vauxhall DRIVE 2002 strategy. Before joining GM, Schlumberger was a strategy consultant for Bossard Consulting in Paris. He has a master’s degree in strategy and management from Dauphine University, Paris, and holds an MBA.
Vice President, GM Global Design
Michael Simcoe had been VP of GM international design since 2014. In that role, he led GM’s production and advanced studios in Korea, Australia, and India. Simcoe joined GM in 1983 as a designer at Holden in Australia. In 2003, as executive director of Asia Pacific design, he led the development of the new GM Korea design operations. Simcoe later became executive director of North American exterior design and was responsible for the GMC Terrain, Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Camaro and Equinox, and Cadillac CTS.
Vice President, Corporate Finance
Dhivya Suryadevara was named to this post on July 1, 2017. She’s responsible for investor relations, corporate financial planning, and analysis. She was previously VP, finance, and treasurer and chief investment officer of GM’s global pension plans. In those roles she oversaw capital planning, capital market activities, worldwide banking, and overall strategy and management of GM’s employee pension plans. She has an MBA from Harvard University and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in commerce from the University of Madras.
Thomas S. Timko
Vice President, Global Business Services, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer
Thomas Timko manages a global team charged with streamlining GM business processes to improve service quality and reduce complexity and costs. He retains the positions of VP, controller, and chief accounting officer that he has held since 2013. Timko is also responsible for the Global Strategic Risk Management Program, which focuses on improving risk governance and culture by driving a “risk” thought process into strategic and cross-functional decision-making based on a standardized approach across the business.
Vice President, Global Customer Care and Aftersales
Tim Turvey has global oversight for customer care and aftersales, including driving customer retention throughout the ownership life cycle by ensuring global service engineering readiness for launch vehicles, service parts planning and procurement, warehousing and logistics, the parts distribution network, and service, sales, and marketing support to the GM North America dealer and the independent aftermarket channels. Turvey previously served as executive director of GM North America Customer Care and Aftersales.
Vice President, Treasurer
Rick Westenberg leads GM’s global treasury operations, including capital planning, capital market, and worldwide banking activities. Before becoming treasurer, Westenberg was executive director, corporate financial planning and analysis, with responsibility for GM’s financial forecasting, budgeting, and medium-term planning activities, as well as leading the finance team supporting the company’s global corporate staffs. Westenberg also worked in public accounting and financial restructuring consulting at Ernst & Young LLP.
Vice President, Global Manufacturing Engineering
Kurt Wiese has global manufacturing engineering responsibility for automotive press, body, paint, assembly, controls, powertrain, and global program management. He has 38 years of experience in manufacturing and engineering. His most recent position was executive director of global product development. Earlier, Wiese led operations at Oshawa Truck Assembly and manufacturing engineering vehicle body systems. He has a strong reputation for relationship-building and inspiring creativity among his team.
U.S. Vice President, Global Buick-GMC
Duncan Aldred is responsible for Buick-GMC sales, service, and marketing in the U.S. and oversees brand strategy globally. He had been chairman and managing director of Vauxhall Motors and CEO of Opel Ireland, based in Great Britain. Aldred joined GM in 1990 at Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port plant near Liverpool. He worked in various positions in Vauxhall sales and marketing before becoming Vauxhall retail sales director in 2004. Following assignments in Hungary and Germany, he was named managing director, Vauxhall Motors.
U.S. Vice President, Chevrolet Marketing
Paul Edwards oversees all aspects of Chevrolet marketing in the U.S. He had been executive director of GM’s global marketing since 2010, and was responsible for Chevrolet global marketing, global media operations, agency management, marketing alliances, licensing, branded entertainment, and auto shows. Edwards began his GM career in 1992 at Cadillac, where he held a variety of sales and marketing positions. He was named manager of Chevrolet advertising in 2003 and, in 2004, he was appointed director of media operations.
U.S. Vice President, Chevrolet
Brian Sweeney is responsible for Chevrolet sales, service, and marketing in the U.S. He had been U.S. VP, Buick-GMC sales and service, since 2010. Sweeney joined GM in 1990 and held a series of sales and service assignments at GMC, Pontiac, and GM vehicle sales, service, and marketing before becoming VP of Saab Cars USA in 2004. GM’s dealers credit Sweeney with boosting Buick’s lease business and raising customer service, including the implementation of a courtesy transportation program for service customers.

Ken Barrett has nearly 17 years of executive experience, including five years as the U.S. Navy’s diversity director, where he achieved historic levels of growth in the number of minority and female officers and work-life balance initiatives. Before joining GM in 2012, he served as the under secretary of defense’s acting director, Office of Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity in Washington, D.C. He was also the federal executive fellow at Harvard University’s Olin Institute for Strategic Studies.

Tim Mahoney has nearly 30 years of industry marketing experience. His key responsibilities include executing Chevrolet’s brand platform, Find New Roads, and growing the Chevrolet brand worldwide. He began his automotive career in 1984 with Subaru of America Inc., where he served as director of marketing. Mahoney joined Volks-
wagen as chief product and marketing officer in 2011, and was responsible for aligning the strategic direction of the brand’s product planning and promotional efforts in the U.S.

Jeffrey Taylor leads GM’s ethics and compliance program, and supports GM’s business operations and leadership team through an organizational culture committed to integrity, ethical conduct, vehicle safety, and compliance with the law and company policies. Prior to joining GM in 2015 as deputy general counsel for federal oversight, Taylor was VP and general counsel of Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems.
