Big Three Executives: General Motors 2016

The automaker posted third-quarter earnings of $1.4 billion in 2015, with North American sales leading the way. The company is driving sales with Apple Inc.’s in-vehicle software, called CarPlay, which displays an iPhone screen on the dashboard.


Theodore  M. “Tim” Solso

Non-Executive Chairman of the Board

Solso, a member of the GM board since June 2012, became non-executive chairman in 2014. Previously, Solso was the chairman and CEO of Cummins, Inc., a Columbus, Ind.-based company that designs, manufactures, and services products, engines, and related technology. He also served as president of Cummins Inc. from 1995 to 2000; COO from 1994 to 2000, and executive vice president of operations from 1992 to 1994. Solso is also a director of Ball Corp., a manufacturer of metal packing products and aerospace systems and technologies. In addition, Solso has served in various positions with Cummins Engine Co. Inc. since 1971. He also worked at BP Corp. North America. In 2011, President Obama appointed Solso to the President’s Management Advisory Board. In 2008, Solso was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and was honored with the Anti-Defamation League’s Man of Achievement Award as well as the 2007 International Executive of the Year Award from the Academy of International Business. A psychology major at DePauw University, Solso earned his Master of Business Administration from Harvard University.​


Mary T. Barra

Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board

Barra became the first female chief executive to lead a major automaker when she was named CEO in January 2014. Barra, an engineer who has worked for GM for more than 30 years, also became a member of the GM board of directors. Previously, Barra was executive vice president of global product development, purchasing and supply chain, and senior vice president, global product development. In these roles, she was responsible for the design, engineering, program management and quality of GM vehicles around the world. Barra has also served as vice president, global human resources; vice president, global manufacturing engineering; and plant manager, Detroit Hamtramck Assembly. Barra graduated with an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business after receiving a GM fellowship. She began her career with GM in 1980. Barra is a member of the General Dynamics board of directors and serves on the board of the Detroit Economic Club, as vice chair of the Kennedy Center’s Corporate Fund Board, and as a member of The Business Council. Fortune magazine placed her first on its 2015 list of the “50 Most Powerful Women in Business.”


Dan Ammann


Ammann is responsible for managing the company’s worldwide regional operations, the global Chevrolet and Cadillac brand organizations, global product planning, new business development, and GM Financial. Previously, as CFO, he has led a transformation of GM’s finance operations and managed the strategy to rebuild the company’s captive finance capability through GM Financial. Before joining GM, the New Zealand native was managing director and head of industrial investment banking for Morgan Stanley and worked at Credit Suisse in New York and New Zealand. Ammann is a certified industry test driver.


Alan Batey

Vice President; President North America

Batey previously served as interim chief marketing officer and vice president, U.S. sales and service, where he was responsible for improving customer satisfaction, dealer profitability, and resale value. He also was vice president, U.S. Chevrolet sales and service. Batey began his GM career in 1979 as a mechanical engineering apprentice for Vauxhall in the United Kingdom. He has held senior management positions in many European countries for GM.  He served as chairman and managing director, GM Holden Ltd. operations in Australia and New Zealand.


Gustavo Céspedes

Executive Vice President; SAIC-GM-Wuling

Céspedes has managed SAIC-GM-Wuling, General Motors China’s automotive joint venture with SAIC and Wuling Motors since August 2014. He is based at the group’s headquarters in Liuzhou, Guangxi. Previously, Céspedes has worked in manufacturing, marketing, planning, and product development in North America and in Europe. He began his career at Genaral Motors Mexico in 1985 as a manufacturing engineer and was also manufacturing lead of new product development at GM’s Technical Center in Warren.


James B. Deluca

Executive Vice President; Global Manufacturing

DeLuca is responsible for GM’s manufacturing, labor, and manufacturing engineering operations around the world. He leads more than 200,000 employees at 171 facilities in 31 countries. DeLuca has been vice president of manufacturing for GM International Operations since January 2013. During that time, he drove significant improvements in quality and manufacturing cost while managing the launch of 19 new vehicles in China and across the region. As VP  of quality for GMIO since 2009, DeLuca manages all product quality activities in the region.


Johan De Nysschen

Executive Vice President; President, Cadillac

De Nysschen is responsible for all aspects of Cadillac globally including sales, pricing, and network development; strategic brand development and marketing; product portfolio planning, including providing critical input for product engineering and design; and overall business results. Previously, de Nysschen was president, Infiniti Motor Co.  and also president of Audi of America Inc. He holds an MBA in marketing and finance from the University of Pretoria and a bachelor’s in commerce from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.


Barry Engle

Executive Vice President; President South America

Engle replaced Jaime Ardila, who retired in September 2015. He is responsible for GM’s operations in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela. Engle was president of Ford of Brazil and Mercosul and director of marketing, sales, and service for Ford of Brazil. Since 2011, Engle was CEO of Agility Fuel Systems in Santa Ana, Calif. From 2010 to 2011, he was CEO of Think Holdings, based in Oslo, Norway and from 2008 to 2010, he served as president and CEO of New Holland Agricultural Equipment in Turin, Italy.


Craig Glidden

Executive Vice President; General Counsel

Appointed in March 2015, Glidden leads a team of attorneys who are integrated into GM’s regional and functional realms in more than 30 countries. He assumes the role of Michael Millikin, who retired. As of November 2015, Glidden also assumed responsibility for global public policy and corporate sustainability from Bob Ferguson, who left the company. Previously, Glidden was executive vice president and chief legal officer for Lyondell Basell. He has also served as senior vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary of Chevron Phillips Chemical Co.


Stefan Jacoby

Executive Vice President; President GM International

With nearly 30 years of international experience, Jacoby leads General Motor’s international operations — under a new title — in more than 100 countries and territories in Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East. Most recently, Jacoby served as global CEO and president at Volvo Car Corp. and led a successful turnaround and transformation as the CEO of Mitsubishi Motors in Europe and also as CEO of Volkswagen in the United States. Jacoby’s has strong experience in finance, sales, and marketing


Karl-Thomas Neumann

Executive Vice President; President, GM Europe; Chairman of the Management Board, Opel Group GmbH

Neumann has been at the helm of Opel since 2013 and also was named chairman of the board of Adam Opel AG and president, Europe. Neumann has been chairman of the management board of Opel Group GmbH, which is responsible for all GM operations. He joined Opel/Vauxhall from Volkswagen AG, where he was CEO and vice president of Volkswagen Group China. Previously, Neumann was head of group research and director of electronic strategy for Volkswagen.


Mark L. Reuss

Executive Vice President; Global Product Development and Purchasing and Supply Chain

Reuss is responsible for the design, engineering, program management, and quality of GM vehicles around the world. He is a member of the GM Executive Operations Committee, the Opel Supervisory Board, and the board of Shanghai GM. From 2009-2013, Reuss was President of General Motors North America. Under Reuss’ watch, GM produced consistent profits and improved margins during a product renaissance  that included the launch of the Cadillac CTS, Chevrolet Impala, and the Buick Encore.


Chuck Stevens

Executive Vice President; CFO

Stevens leads GM’s global financial and accounting operations. He was previously CFO of GM North America, with responsibility for U.S. sales, service and marketing; GM Canada; GM de Mexico; North America Manufacturing; Customer Care and Aftersales; and OnStar. He was also interim CFO of GM South America. Stevens began his General Motors career in 1983 at Buick Motor Division. He served as finance director of GM Shanghai and held several leadership positions in China, Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand.


Matt Tsien

Executive Vice President; President, GM China

Based in Shanghai, Tsien oversees the day-to-day operations of GM’s business in China, including its 11 joint ventures. Previously, as vice president of planning and program management for GM China and GM Consolidated International Operations and Strategic Alliances, he was responsible for product planning and growing GM’s product range in the region. Tsien also served as executive vice president of the company’s SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture. He began his career in 1976 as a co-op student in electrical engineering.


Alicia Boler-Davis

Senior Vice President; Global Connected Customer Experience

Boler-Davis leads GM’s global efforts to provide market-leading connectivity and infotainment products and services. She also assumes the responsibilities of Mary Chan, who left the company. Boler-Davis’s scope includes GM’s nearly 20-year-old OnStar safety, security, and services brand. She leads GM’s Urban Active team, which is developing solutions to capitalize on the future of personal mobility, including car sharing. She began her career with GM in 1994 and has served in various engineering and manufacturing leadership position.


Tony Cervone

Senior Vice President; Global CommunicationsSenior Vice President Global Communications

As GM’s top communications executive, Cervone is responsible for the company’s overall global communications strategy, including products and brands, corporate, social media, executive support, and internal communications. He is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and is a senior adviser to CEO Mary Barra. As of November 2015, Cervone assumed responsibility for the GM Foundation and corporate giving activities. Previously, Cervone served as executive vice president of group communications for Volkswagen Group of America.


Randall D. Mott

Senior Vice President; Global Information Technology and Chief Information Officer

Mott is responsible for the company’s global IT strategy and all IT assets. He is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and reports to CEO Mary Barra.

Before coming to GM in February 2012, Mott was executive vice president and chief information officer of Hewlett-Packard, responsible for the company’s global information technology strategy. Mott has also served in IT leadership positions at Dell Inc. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. In 2005, he was named a Distinguished Alumni at Fulbright College.


John J. Quattrone

GM Global Human Resources

Quattrone had been executive director of human resources for global product development and global purchasing and supply chain and the corporate strategy, business development and global planning and program organizations. He began his General Motors career in 1975 at the Fisher Body plant in Syracuse. He served as vice president of human resources for GM North America and GM Powertrain. Quattrone previously served on the board of directors of the American Society of Employers and Health Grades Inc.


Daniel E. Berce

President and CEO GM Financial

Berce has held these positions at GM Financial since October 2010, when General Motors purchased the company. Previously, he served as vice chairman, president, treasurer, CEO, and CFO of AmeriCredit Corp. Before that, Berce was an auditor with Coopers & Lybrand for nearly 15 years and was a partner with the firm. Berce also serves as a member of the board of directors for Arlington Asset Investment Corp., a principal investment firm that invests primarily in mortgage-related assets and Cash America International Inc., a publicly-traded consumer finance company.


Stephen K. Carlisle

President; Managing Director, GM of Canada Ltd.

Carlisle provides both direct and indirect oversight over all business activities in the Canadian market, including sales and marketing for all vehicles classes and brands, aftersales, dealer support, operations, manufacturing, and engineering. He most recently served as vice president of global product planning and program management. Previously, he led U.S. sales operations, he was responsible for the dealer network, retail sales support, and fleet and commercial. He also served as president and managing director, GM South East Asia Operations.


Ernesto Hernandez

Managing Director, General Motors de Mexico

Hernandez is responsible for GM’s operations in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. GM de Mexico is headquartered in Mexico City and has administrative, manufacturing, and warehousing facilities in the states of Mexico, Coahuila, Guanajuato, and San Luis Potosi. Hernandez became the first Mexican to serve in this role. Prior to that, he was the GM de Mexico vice president and executive director for vehicle sales, service and marketing. He began his career with General Motors in 1980, in product engineering.


James Kim

President and CEO GM Korea

Starting January 2016, Kim takes over for Sergio Rocha, who becomes the unit’s chairman. Kim joined GM Korea in June 2015 as president and chief operating officer. He is responsible for all operations of GM Korea, which has 17,000 employees, four manufacturing facilities, and which represents one of seven fully integrated design, engineering, and manufacturing operations within GM. Kim also has oversight responsibilities with GM’s joint venture operations in Uzbekistan. Kim joined GM Korea from Microsoft Korea, where he had served as country manager and CEO.


Luca Patrigniani

President; Managing Director, GM Russia.

In September 2015, Patrigniani took over the duties of Susanna Webber, who left GM. He will continue the restructuring of General Motors’ business in Russia. Patrigniani had been managing director of General Motors CIS since 2012, responsible for Opel and Cadillac business in Russia. GM Russia will now focus on the premium segment of the automotive market, selling the entire Cadillac model range as well as the Chevrolet Corvette, Camaro, and Tahoe. Patrigniani began his GM career in 1989 at GM Europe in Zurich.


​Arvind Saxena

President; Managing Director, GM India

Saxena has more than two decades of experience in sales, marketing, and management with several Indian and global automakers. He began his career in 1983 as an area manager in the motorcycles and scooter division of Escorts Ltd. He later moved to Bajaj Auto as regional manager of north India, and Maruti Udyog as regional manager of western India. Prior to his appointment at GM, Saxena was managing director of passenger cars and a member of the board of directors of Volkswagen Group Sales India.


Kenneth J. Barrett

Chief Diversity Officer

Barrett has nearly 15 years of executive experience, including five years as the U.S. Navy’s diversity director, where he achieved historic levels of growth in the number of minority and female officers and work-life balance initiatives. Before joining GM in 2012, he served as the Under Secretary of Defense’s acting director, Office of Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity. Barrett holds a bachelor’s of political science from the College of the Holy Cross, a master’s in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College, and an executive MBA from the Naval Postgraduate School.


Tim Mahoney

Chief Marketing Officer; Global Chevrolet and Global GM Marketing Operations Leader

Mahoney has nearly 30 years of automotive industry marketing experience. His key responsibilities include executing Chevrolet’s brand platform, “Find New Roads,” and growing the Chevrolet brand worldwide. He began his automotive career in 1984 with Subaru of America Inc. where he served as director of marketing. Mahoney joined Volkswagen as chief product and marketing officer in 2011 and was responsible for aligning the strategic direction of the brand’s product planning and promotional efforts in U.S.


Mike Abelson

Vice President; Global Product Planning and Program Management

Abelson is responsible for leading GM’s worldwide product plans. Previously, Ableson was vice president, vehicle engineering, Europe, based in Russelsheim, Germany and oversaw a staff of 6,000 at GM’s International Technical Development Center and was responsible for all European engineering activities. He began his career with GM in 1984 as an analysis engineer. He served in a series of diversified engineering assignments, including that of body structure release engineer with GM’s Cadillac Division.


Jeff Boyer

Vice President; Global Vehicle Safety

Boyer has global responsibility for the safety development of GM vehicles, including safety performance and post-sale safety activities, including recalls. Previously, he was executive director, engineering operations and system development, where he led business operations, metrics, global virtual design process, program content management, engineering systems development, and productivity initiatives. During his more than 40 years at GM, Boyer has held a wide range of engineering, safety, and leadership positions in regional and global programs.


Cathy Clegg

Vice President; North America Manufacturing and Labor Relations

Clegg leads a team of more than 74,000 employees with responsibility for 55 facilities including assembly, stamping, powertrain, and component operations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Leading GM’s labor relations was added to her role in June 2015. She is responsible for union-management partnerships, directing joint programs and negotiations, and other key matters involving union-represented workers. Clegg earlier served as global manufacturing engineering vice president.


Michael Devereux

Vice President; Sales, Marketing and Aftersales; GM Consolidated International Operations

Devereux served as chairman and managing director of GM Holden Ltd. with responsibility for GM’s operations in Australia and New Zealand. He joined GM Service Parts Operations – International in 1989 and held numerous leadership positions in product development and sales for AC Delco and GM Parts. In 2008, he became president and managing director of GM Middle East Operations. Devereux holds a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering and a MBA from Harvard University.


Jim Glynn

Vice President; Global Labor Relations

Since April 2015, Glynn became responsible for developing and implementing GM’s global labor strategy that includes union-management partnerships, joint programs, contract negotiations, and other key matters involving union-represented workers. He moved to this role after serving as North America labor relations vice president for two years. Previously, Glynn served as GM North America manufacturing manager, leading operations at 10 vehicle assembly, powertrain, metal stamping, and battery assembly plants across the United States and Canada.


Stephen Hill

Vice President; U.S. Sales and Service

U.S. sales chiefs for Chevrolet and Buick-GMC report to Hill. He also is responsible for General Motor’s U.S. operations unit and fleet sales. Hill had been vice president of GM’s Customer Care and Aftersales division that oversees vehicle service, parts, and other operations in GM’s North America retail network. He had also served as general sales manager for the Premium Channel (Cadillac-Hummer-Saab). Hill began his GM career in 1983 at Cadillac as a district service manager, and moved on to numerous sales and marketing positions within General Motors.


Gerald Johnson

Vice President; Operational Excellence

As a member of CEO Mary Barra’s Executive Leadership Team, Johnson’s responsibilities include planning and execution of a company-wide focus on process discipline, improvement, and waste elimination. He also will establish new training and requirements, and manage a team to lead and support projects across the company. Johnson had been North America manufacturing VP president since July 2013, responsible for 55 assembly, stamping, powertrain, and component operations. He also was executive director of Global Program Quality and Launch.


Ken Kelzer

Vice President; Global Vehicle Components and Subsystems

Kelzer’s role and organization comprise engineering operations, components development, advanced vehicle development, and other engineering business initiatives. He joined General Motors as an intern in 1982, and most recently he was vice president of General Motors Europe powertrain engineering. Some of Kelzer’s prior roles include executive chief engineer of full-size and midsize vehicles, global vehicle chief engineer for rear-wheel drive and performance vehicles, and global functional leader of chassis and accessories.


Steve Kiefer

Vice President; Global Purchasing and Supply Chain

Kiefer continues to build on establishing relations with suppliers. Kiefer’s extensive leadership experience will be key as GM continues its efforts to reshape how the company and its suppliers work together. Previously, Kiefer was vice president, Global Powertrain. He has served in a variety of engineering and leadership roles, including senior vice president at Delphi Automotive and president of its powertrain systems group since 2011.  He plays an active role representing GM in Detroit-area philanthropic and civic activities.


Jon Lauckner

Vice President; Global Research & Development Chief Technology Officer; President, General Motors Ventures LLC

Lauckner’s main focus is to drive technology and innovation into General Motor’s global product portfolio and to lead GM Ventures, the subsidiary formed in July 2010 to make equity investments in startup companies that are developing next-generation automotive technology. Lauckner had been vice president of global product planning and vice president of global program management. He joined General Motors in 1979 as an engineer at Buick.


Grace D. Lieblein

Vice President; Global Quality

Lieblien retired the end of December. No  replacement was announced. Lieblien was responsible for leading GM’s global quality efforts aimed at providing customers with the highest-quality vehicles in the industry. Previously she oversaw GM’s purchasing, supply chain and logistics operations worldwide. She was experienced in manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, and global markets. Lieblein was a member of the board of directors for GM Foundation. Earlier, Lieblein served as president and managing director of GM Brazil where she oversaw the launch of nine new products.


Victoria Mcinnis

Vice President; Tax and Audit

Under a new title, McInnis was appointed in March 2015 and is responsible for GM’s global audit, tax, and customs strategy and operations. Previously, she had served as the company’s chief tax officer since 2009. McInnis leads a global team of more than 500 employees who handle GM’s internal audit services and GM’s tax and customs planning, compliance and controversy management. McInnis joined GM in 1995 and has held a variety of leadership positions. Previously, she was as associate in the corporate and tax division of McCarthy Tetrault.


Ken Morris

Vice President;  Global Product Integrity

Morris’s organization comprises vehicle, powertrain, and electrical systems engineering as well as vehicle performance, industrial engineering, and validation. The organization also includes the Global Vehicle Safety and Supplier Quality groups and builds on specific actions GM has taken in recent years to lead the industry in vehicle dynamics, including ride and handling, steering, and braking. Morris joined General Motors in 1989 as a brake systems engineer from Borg Warner Automotive Transmission Systems.  He has held several key engineering roles at GM.

Dan Nicholson

Vice President; Global Powertrain

Nicholson is responsible for the design, development, and testing of GM’s global powertrain systems. Previously, Nicholson was executive director of powertrain controllers, software, and calibration. He also served as vice president of quality from 2010 to 2011, and also as vice president of powertrain engineering in Europe from 2008 to 2010. In previous roles, he was executive director of powertrain integration in Europe and chief engineer and program manager for GM’s small- and big-block engine programs He began his career as a co-op student at Buick Motor Division.


Lowell C. Paddock

Vice President; Planning and Program Management, GM International

Paddock had been president and managing director of GM India since January 2012. His previous positions include director of portfolio planning at GM Europe and vice president of planning at GM Asia Pacific. He has also served as GM International Operations vice president of program management and planning, where he oversaw GM’s product lineup in Asia Pacific, Africa, the Middle East, Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States. He serves on the boards of the GM-AvtoVAZ joint venture and GM Korea.


Andreas Schaaf

Vice President; Cadillac Europe

In July 2015, Schaaf assumed the European Cadillac responsibilities of Thomas Sedran, former president and managing director, Chevrolet and Cadillac Europe, who moved to Volkswagen. With nearly 20 years of experience in key global sales and marketing roles with BMW and MINI, Schaaf is now responsible for refining Cadillac’s global retail and customer experience strategy and growing sales in Europe. Les Turton, sales manager, Chevrolet Europe and managing director, Chevrolet UK, will assume Sedran’s Chevrolet responsibilities in Western and Central Europe.


​Dhivya Suryadevara

Vice President; Finance and Treasurer

In July 2015, Suryadevara took the role of Niharika Taskar Ramdev, who was named chief financial officer for GM International. Suryadevara retains her current responsibilities as CEO and chief investment officer of GM Asset Management. She directs all GM’s global treasury operations, including capital planning, capital market activities, worldwide banking, and participates in business development, risk management, and investor relations. At GM Asset Management, Suryadevara oversees $80 billion in assets across the company’s defined benefit plans.


Thomas S. Timko

Vice President; Controller and Chief Accounting Officer

Timko provides global leadership and oversight for external reporting, technical accounting matters, development of accounting policies, internal controls, and the consolidations process. He oversees the global service functions for inventory, fixed assets, payroll, accounts payable, billing, and receivables. Before joining GM in March 2013, Timko was at Applied Materials Inc. where he led the financial due diligence and integration for a multibillion-dollar acquisition. He also served as chief accounting officer and controller at Delphi Automotive.


Diana Tremblay

Vice President; Global Business Services

Tremblay’s team is comprised of employees from finance, human resources, facilities, real estate, and indirect purchasing. When fully operational, Global Business Services will manage dozens of common processes across GM and include thousands of employees across the globe. The group is expected to reduce associated costs by at least 30 percent over the next four years. Previously, Tremblay was vice president, North American manufacturing, with a team of 55,000 employees and responsibility for 58 facilities in North America .


Tim Turvey

Vice President; Global Customer Care and Aftersales

Turvey has global oversight for customer care and aftersales, including driving customer retention throughout the ownership lifecycle by ensuring global service engineering readiness for launch vehicles; service parts planning and procurement; warehousing and logistics; parts distribution network; and service, sales, and marketing support to the GM North America dealer and the independent aftermarket channels. Turvey previously served as executive director of GM North America Customer Care and Aftersales sales and marketing.


Edward T. Welburn Jr.

Vice President; Global Design

The sixth design leader in GM history, Welburn leads the company’s 10 design centers in the United States, Germany, Korea, China, Australia, Brazil, and India. He and his team of over 2,500 are responsible for the design development of every GM concept and production car and truck worldwide. In February 2015, Welburn made history when he was named Black Engineer of the Year at the 29th annual “Becoming Everything You Are” conference in Washington, D.C. This was the first time a GM employee took the top honor of one of the nation’s most prestigious diversity awards.


Kurt Wiese

Vice President; Global Manufacturing Engineering

Wiese has global manufacturing engineering responsibility for automotive press, body, paint, assembly, controls, powertrain, and global program management. He has 36 years of experience in manufacturing and manufacturing engineering. Wiese’s most recent position was executive director in global product development. Earlier, he led operations at Oshawa Truck Assembly and manufacturing engineering vehicle body systems. Wiese has a strong reputation for relationship building and inspiring creativity among his team members.


Duncan Aldred

U.S. Vice President; Buick-GMC

Aldred is responsible for Buick-GMC sales, service and marketing in the U.S. He had been chairman and managing director of Vauxhall Motors and CEO of Opel Ireland. Aldred joined GM in 1990 at Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port plant near Liverpool. He worked in various positions in Vauxhall sales and marketing before becoming Vauxhall retail sales director in 2004. Aldred was named managing director, Vauxhall Motors, in 2010, and added chairman responsibilities in 2011. In 2013 he was named acting vice president, sales, marketing and aftersales for Opel/Vauxhall.


Paul Edwards

U.S. Vice President; Chevrolet Marketing

Edwards oversees all aspects of Chevrolet marketing in the U.S. He had been executive director of GM’s global marketing since 2010, and was responsible for Chevrolet global marketing, global media operations, agency management, marketing alliances, licensing, branded entertainment, and auto shows. He began his GM career in 1992 at Cadillac, where he held a variety of sales and marketing positions. He was named manager of Chevrolet advertising in 2003, and in 2004, he was appointed director of media operations, advertising and corporate marketing.


Eric Peterson

U.S. Vice President; Diversity Dealer Relations

In this position Peterson advances GM’s commitment to increase the number of minority dealers in its retail network and to support automotive diversity. He represents GM at diverse dealer organization activities and strengthens the company’s relationships with those organizations. Peterson is also responsible for expanding GM’s Minority Dealer Development and Women’s Retail Network activities while representing the interests of minority and women dealer candidates. Before this, he was U.S. vice president of corporate diversity.


Brian Sweeney

U.S. Vice President; Chevrolet

Sweeney is responsible for Chevrolet sales, service, and marketing in the U.S. He had been U.S. vice president, Buick-GMC sales and service since 2010. Sweeney joined GM in 1990 and held a series of sales and service assignments at GMC, Pontiac, and GM vehicle sales, service and marketing before becoming vice president of Saab Cars USA in 2004. GM’s auto dealers credit Sweeney with boosting Buick’s lease business and raising customer-service standards, including the implementation of a courtesy transportation program for service customers.


Jill Sutton

Corporate Secretary; Deputy General Counsel, Corporate, Finance, and Strategic Transactions

Sutton began in July 2015 and is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the GM’s governance framework, implementing decisions made by the board, and serving as the overall liaison with the board. Previously, Sutton was executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Tim Horton’s Inc. During her tenure there she helped navigate the company through a variety of significant transactions, including its initial public offering spin-off from Wendy’s International Inc.
