DB: Where are you?
AG: In Las Vegas. I’m conducting a two-day seminar at the Wynn Resort Hotel.
DB: What kind of seminar?
AG: I’m teaching dozens of dentists from around the world about the latest clinical procedures in cosmetic dentistry. We also cover the whole operations side of a dentist’s office. It’s the fifth time I’ve put this on, and we’ve had participants from all over the country, as well as [from] places like England, Australia, Canada, and South America.
DB: What are the latest clinical procedures?
AG: More and more people are accessing cosmetic procedures, due mostly to the rapid advancement in technology. We’ve seen a big increase in the use of porcelain veneers, as well as implants. Five years ago, we didn’t even offer porcelain, and now it represents 50 percent of our [annual] revenue.
DB: In what other ways has technology contributed to your bottom line?
AG: The digital revolution is amazing. We’re totally digital now. Before, we were using conventional film, but with the new technology, the clarity is so much better.
DB: How else can medical offices benefit?
AG: There’s so much potential in advertising and marketing. We talk to dentists about the best ways to effectively promote their practices, including … the Internet.
DB: Is your practice growing?
AG: Yes. We’ve outgrown our space, so we’re actively looking for a bigger venue that I can put even more technology into. People are living longer, and they want to enjoy life to the fullest.
