Meadow Brook Hall Gourmet Wild Game Dinner and Auction
Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester Hills hosted its Gourmet Wild Game Dinner and Auction on Sept. 20. Guests enjoyed a full bar, passed hors d’oeuvres, tours of the hall, silent and live auctions, dinner, a raffle, and a 52-card game. Proceeds benefited Meadow Brook Hall.
2018 Distinguished Grand Jester Reception
The Distinguished Clown Corps, part of The Parade Co. in Detroit, held its 2018 Distinguished Grand Jester Reception on Sept. 18 at The Reserve in Birmingham. The annual event raises funds for America’s Thanksgiving Parade Presented by Art Van, which will be held on Nov. 22 along Woodward Avenue from Midtown to downtown Detroit.
American Cancer Society’s 2018 Cattle Baron’s Ball
The American Cancer Society hosted its 2018 Cattle Baron’s Ball on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. More than $880,000 was raised as guests enjoyed a strolling dinner and desserts, a silent auction, live music, mechanical bull riding and other southwestern-inspired fun, and an afterglow. The American Cancer Society funds and conducts cancer research, shares information, and supports cancer patients.
DBusiness Top Lawyers Party
DBusiness Magazine hosted its Top Lawyers party on Monday, Sept. 17 at Eddie Merlot’s Prime Aged Beef and Seafood in Bloomfield Hills. The evening included cocktails, appetizers, and entertainment. The event honors the 2019 Top Lawyers selected through an annual peer review survey.
ACC Civic and Humanitarian Awards Gala
Troy’s Arab American and Chaldean Council hosted its 39th Annual Civic and Humanitarian Awards Gala on Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center. The event celebrates the ACC’s establishment in 1979 and honors individuals who are visionaries in their respective areas of work. The gala attracts nearly 1,000 guests.
Southwest Solutions Celebration of Impact
Southwest Solutions, a Detroit nonprofit dedicated to human development, economic development, and community engagement, held its inaugural Celebration of Impact gala on Friday, Sept. 14 at the MGM Grand Detroit Hotel to celebrate 47 years of service. An honoree reception, cocktails, appetizers, seated dinner, auctions, awards, live music, and dessert were included.
SACC Detroit’s Crayfish Party
The Detroit chapter of the Swedish-American Chambers of Commerce hosted its Crayfish Party on Friday, Sept. 14 at the Orchard Lake Country Club. Guests enjoyed beer, non-alcoholic elderflower spritzer, crayfish, ham, cheese, Swedish meatballs, vegetables, dessert, aquavit, and a silent auction.
“One Detroit” Premier
One Detroit, a show from Detroit Public TV committed to bringing people of metro Detroit in-depth, unbiased, and trusted coverage, premiered on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at Common Pub in Detroit. The show features Christy McDonald, managing editor of "One Detroit," Stephen Henderson of American Black Journal and WDET’s "Detroit Today," and Nolan Finley of The Detroit News.
Detroit Sessions Presents Rostropovich: The Indomitable Bow
The Detroit Sessions, a nonprofit focused on elevating the cultural vibrancy of Detroit, presented a concert in honor of Mstislav Rostropovich, a human rights activist and musical icon, on Sept. 7 in the Rivera Court at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Rostropovich: The Indomitable Bow, featured guest artists Bruno Monsaingeon, Aleksey Shadrin, and Ivan Moshchuk. The concert was part of the DIA’s Friday Night Live! series.
Sakura Garden Grand Opening
Michigan Governor Rick Snyder and Taizo Mikazuki, governor of Japan’s Shiga Prefecture, recognized the 50th Anniversary of the states’ sister-state relationship at the Sakura Garden Grand Opening on Friday, Sept. 7. The garden is located at Michigan State University’s Tollgate Education Center in Novi. Guests enjoyed appetizers, entertainment by Taiko Drums, and a drawing for a round-trip airline ticket to Japan.
