More than 350 people attended the 7th Annual Wine and Dine in the D on Oct. 12 at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel in downtown Detroit. The event, which included 24 restaurants, 17 wineries, three brewers, and one distiller, along with a silent auction and live entertainment, raised $130,000 for the National Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, which in recent years has made great strides in treating what is a cancer of the white blood cells.
On Aug. 28, the Big Wine Classic was held at the Birmingham Country Club. The annual golf, wine, and food event endows the Robert A. Schuele Scholarship Fund, which provides a full-ride, four-year scholarship to a Michigan-based university. This year, the scholarship went to Allison Peel, a senior at Royal Oak High School who will be attending Central Michigan University to study biology and pre-med in pursuit of a career in research pediatric cancer.
Karmanos Home and Garden hosted Art After Hours on Thursday, May 18 to showcase the art and performances of Detroit Country Day School students. More than 100 guests enjoyed paintings and ceramics, along with music, theatre, and dance performances throughout the evening.
The Oakland County Bar Foundation, a non-profit organization serving the county and the legal profession, hosted its 18th annual Signature Event for more than 400 guests at the Oakland Hills Country Club on Friday, April 28. The event raised more than $281,000 to help support Oakland County-based legal aid and education programs.
