The annual Clambake for Cottage event was hosted by Henry Ford Health System on Sept. 16, at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores. Guests enjoyed a surf and turf meal, live entertainment, games, and dancing. Live and silent auctions were also held and proceeds supported Henry Ford Cancer Institute and the Henry Ford Medical Center-Cottage Campus.

The 15th annual Cattle Baron's Ball was held on Sept. 23 at Cobo Center in Detroit to benefit the American Cancer Society. More than 800 guests enjoyed a strolling dinner, live and silent auctions, and live music.

Life Directions, an organization dedicated to peer-to-peer mentorship, hosted their annual golf classic on Sept. 11 at the Western Golf and Country Club in Redford. Guests enjoyed a round of golf, refreshments, gourmet dinner, and a live auction.

The New Day Foundation for Families, an organization working to improve outcomes for cancer survivors, hosted the annual Hope Shines Gala at Eastern Market in Detroit on Sept. 8. Guests enjoyed dinner, cocktails, live and silent auctions, raffles, and live entertainment by the Ben Sharkey quartet.

On Aug. 17, the Founders Junior Council held its annual FashBash at the Detroit Institute of Arts. More than 700 guests enjoyed a fashion show by Neiman Marcus, a strolling cocktail reception, and The Lincoln Motor Co. Afterglow.

On Aug. 16, in part to support the upcoming Sustainabili-D Youth Walk, Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr, and Huber (FTCH), a multi-faceted consulting firm in the construction industry, held an open house for its new office at the 1001 Woodward Building in downtown Detroit.

The Detroit Chinese Business Association, Oakland County Economic Development Corp., and Detroit Institute of Arts hosted a dinner and delegation event on Thursday, June 15 at the Troy Marriott. The evening featured wine, dinner, dessert, and a presentation by the major of Taizhou, China. Proceeds from the event benefit the DIA's new Asian exhibit.

The Michigan Opera Theatre hosted a Grand Salute to founder and artistic director David DiChiera at the Detroit Opera House on May 19, in honor of his retirement. The evening featured performances by singers Denyce Graves and Christine Goerke and Veronika Part, principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre.

On May 13, the Detroit Foundation Hotel held a Grand Opening Party for more than 600 guests. The hotel, located at 250 W. Larned St., was the former headquarters for the Detroit Fire Department. Since renovated, the hotel offers 100 rooms, the Apparatus Room restaurant, meeting space, and numerous amenities.

Children's Hospital of Michigan Foundation hosted "Derby for Kids" on May 6 at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial. The Kentucky Derby-themed event included a strolling reception, drinks, and a live auction.
