On May 1, more than 70 people attended a dinner at a private residence in Oakland County where Detroit-based LGC Global founder and CEO Avinash Rachmale gifted $1 million to Wayne State University’s College of Engineering. The funds will be used to establish an endowment to provide full tuition scholarships to Detroit Public Schools Community District students.
The Oxford Kids Foundation hosted its eighth Annual Gala on May 5 at the Orchard Lake Country Club in West Bloomfield Township. More than 200 guests enjoyed dinner, entertainment, and silent and live auctions. The foundation provides financial assistance to children to receive alternative therapies and medical care not covered by insurance.

The event was held in the ballroom of the Detroit Yacht Club, and event proceeds will be used on restoration efforts.

The evening included networking, a silent auction, dinner, a program, and an afterglow. Vista Maria was founded as an orphanage in 1883 by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd. Today, it supports vulnerable youth and their families.
JDRF held its annual Promise Ball on May 4 at the MGM Grand Detroit. The formal event included a cocktail reception, dinner, a live auction, entertainment, and an after party. Proceeds benefitted JDRF’s mission to support research to cure, treat, and prevent Type 1 diabetes and its complications.

The report reveals strengths and weaknesses in Industry 4.0, or the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and readiness among the manufacturing supply chain and academia. Compiled by academic and corporate partners, the 100-page report highlights emerging trends, challenges, opportunities, and action items for industry.

On April 10, the German American Chambers of Commerce hosted a networking event at the Detroit Athletic Club to coincide with the 2018 SAE World Congress. The guest speaker was Josh Hundt, chief business development officer and executive vice president at Michigan Economic Development Corp.
Detroit Country Day School hosted a Vivid Occasion at The Townsend Hotel in Birmingham to raise money for the school’s renovation project. Guests enjoyed a strolling dinner, silent action, dancing, desserts, live music, and cocktails. Attendees included members of the school’s board of trustees.
