The 9th annual Paul W. Smith Golf Classic was held on Aug. 13 at the Detroit Golf Club. The event raised a record $520,000 to benefit Think Detroit PAL, which provides athletic and leadership development programming for more than 10,000 youth in Detroit.

On Aug. 11, the Oakland County Boat Club of Sylvan Lake celebrated its 100th anniversary with a Black-and-White themed party. Guests enjoyed a strolling dinner, live music and dancing, and a fireworks show.

On August 6, Hour Media in Royal Oak, parent company of HOUR, DBusiness, Detroit Home, and several other magazines, held a golf outing at Wabeek Country Club in Bloomfield Township. The event, which drew more than 140 people, included 18 holes of golf, a strolling dinner, and an awards ceremony.
