Report: Business Investment in R&D Lagging

A report released today by the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), a Washington, D.C.-based think tank for science and technology policy, has found the rate of growth for business R&D investment as a share of GDP has been lagging. In order for the United States’ innovation economy to remain strong, the report recommends the country enact more robust policies to support business and federal R&D.

Meridian Health Plan in Detroit Acquired by Florida’s WellCare for $2.5B

WellCare Health Plans Inc. in Tampa today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Meridian Health Plan of Michigan Inc., Meridian Health Plan of Illinois Inc., and Meridian Rx, a pharmacy benefit manager, for $2.5 billion in cash. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2018.
