The Big Wine Classic, an annual event that raises money to fund college scholarships, was held on Aug. 28 at the Birmingham Country Club. In addition to golf, participants were asked to bring a bottle of wine valued at $100 or more, which is shared during the evening program.

Detroit Red Wings Captain Henrik Zetterberg and his wife, Emma, hosted the inaugural Zetterberg Foundation Charity Event on Sept. 12 at Tre Monti Ristorante in Troy. The foundation raises funds for children, education, and health care.

As a prelude fundraiser to the Detroit International Jazz Festival, an Opening Night Party was held on Aug. 29 along Woodward Ave. in front of the Qube (formerly Chase Building). The evening included a strolling cocktail party and buffet.

Common Ground hosted its Fourth Annual Legacy of Hope breakfast benefit at the Oakland Hills Country Club Oct. 21. Themed “Crafting Brighter Futures,” the program provided first-hand accounts from individuals and families who Common Ground has assisted.

Saks Fifth Avenue in Troy hosted the Heart to Heart luncheon and fashion show, featuring designs by Pamella Roland, on Oct. 29. Proceeds benefited Beaumont Ministrelli Women's Heart Center.

Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital hosted the Harvest Moon Ball at the MGM Grand Detroit on Oct. 24. The benefit featured cocktails, dinner, live entertainment, and an awards ceremony. Many attendees came in masquerade attire.

The Capuchin Soup Kitchen held its 42nd annual SOCK Dinner on Oct. 17 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. The evening included a cocktail reception, dinner, and entertainment.

The annual CATCH Night of Champions was held Oct. 15, at The Henry in Dearborn. Community leaders were inducted into the foundation’s Hall of Fame and attendees were invited to bid on auction items including bats signed by the Detroit Tigers.

On Oct. 16, the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan hosted a launch party at a private residence to celebrate the 10th Annual Kidney Ball. More than 75 people attended the event, including Detroit Lion Lomas Brown and former Detroit Red Wing Joe Kocur.
