Focus: HOPE held its Heroes for Hope Gala on May 15 at the Grand Riverview Ballroom at Cobo Center in Detroit. The formal event, which featured a sit-down dinner, desserts, and dancing, raised $700,000 to support food, education, and community programs.

Stahls Automotive Foundation Museum Reception

The Stahls Automotive Foundation museum in Chesterfield Township held a reception on May 20 for event planners, auto enthusiasts, and special guests. The evening marked the official debut of a refurbished Mighty Wurlitzer organ, which has more than 20,000 parts including horns, flutes, violins, cymbals, and sleigh bells.

33rd Annual Karmanos Cancer Institute Dinner at the Design Dome

On April 25, the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit held its 33rd Annual Dinner at the Design Dome at General Motors' Warren Technical Center. The formal event raised more than $2.8 million.

Second Annual Speed Networking Event for Real Estate Professionals

A speed networking event was held for brokers, real estate investors, and landlords to connect with other professionals at The Townsend Hotel in Birmingham on July 1. Attendees enjoyed drinks and appetizers and were joined by Katharine Czarnecki of the Michigan Economic Development Corp.

An Evening of Art + Science

The A. Alfred Taubman Medical Research Institute at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor held a fundraiser on May 14 at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Called "An Evening of Art + Science," the event raised funds for the Taubman Institute's Emerging Scholars program.

Quicken Loans Technology Center Grand Opening

Detroit-based Quicken Loans held a grand opening event for its 66,000-square-foot technology center in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood on June 30. The center, at 1401 Rosa Parks Blvd., has two 10,000-square-foot server rooms, along with training, office, and support space.

An Evening with Jean Meyer, CEO of St. John Providence Health System

The Detroit Athletic Club held an event for business and civic leaders in the region to meet Jean Meyer, president and CEO of the St. John Providence Health System on June 16. Guests enjoyed live music and a strolling dinner.

Professional's Night Out 2015

A networking event was held in the newly-renovated Shed 5 at Detroit's Eastern Market on June 26. The event included cocktails, a five-course dinner prepared by Chef Jeremy Kalmus, desserts, and dancing. Attendees learned how to pitch their business and brand their company through social media.

3rd Annual Read to a Child Detroit Fundraiser

Read to a Child, a national literacy organization with an office and operations in Detroit, held its annual fundraiser on March 12 at the Detroit Opera House. The event, which drew more than 100 people, honored the reading mentor of the year, Sheree Dorsey, portfolio manager of Fifth Third Bank in Southfield.
