The Big Wine Classic, created as a memorial for Rob Schuele, whose vision was to help young people by granting college scholarships, was held at the Birmingham Country Club on July 27. Guests enjoyed golf, dinner, and wine while raising funds for a four-year full-ride scholarship for a young adult.

The Michigan Humane Society held a benefit to raise money for its new Detroit Animal Care Campus on July 23. Guests enjoyed dinner from chefs Marc Djozlija and Andy Hollyday, and the event also included a live and silent auction and entertainment.

Beyond Basics, a literary nonprofit serving Detroit Public School students, held its annual appreciation dinner at a private residence in Bloomfield Hills on Aug. 27. Guests enjoyed a strolling dinner in the home's gardens.

Van Conway of Conway MacKenzie in Birmingham and Steve Gordon of Signature Associates in Southfield hosted their annual Dream Cruise party on Aug. 15 at Jax Car Wash in Birmingham. Classic and muscle cars were on display for the event, and guests enjoyed food from the Andiamo food truck.

DBusiness celebrated with metro Detroit’s top female executives at the DBusiness Breakfast Series featuring the 2015 Powered by Women honorees.

Fifth Third Bank volunteers came to the Cadillac Urban Gardens in Southwest Detroit to work in the gardens on Aug. 13. The volunteers brought the Fifth Third eBus to the garden to offer local residents the chance to speak with a certified credit counselor, review credit reports, and find job opportunities.

Danialle Karmanos' hosted her annual celebrity golf invitational dinner on Aug. 16 at the Pine Lake County Club in West Bloomfield Township. Guests enjoyed cocktails, dinner, and entertainment by Ben Sharkey and his band. Funds from the event went to Work it Out, a research-based program that's a blend of yoga and nutritional education.

ORT Michigan held its annual fundraiser, Rub-a-Dub, at the Franklin Hills Country Club on Aug. 19. Guests enjoyed dinner, music, and a live and silent auction. Proceeds benefitted ORT, a Jewish educational nonprofit.

Bloomfield Hills Financial held a party during the Woodward Dream Cruise on Aug. 15 at its headquarters on Woodward Avenue. Guests enjoyed classic cars and a view of the cruise.

The Downtown Boxing Gym Youth Program, offering athletic training, academic support, and volunteering opportunities for youth in Detroit, held a grand opening for its new gym on the city’s east side near Vernor and Mount Elliott on Aug. 19. The 27,500-square-foot former bookbinding building now houses two boxing rings, a training facility, computer lab, study rooms, and executive offices.
