2015 Danialle Karmanos' Work it Out Dinner

Danialle Karmanos' hosted her annual celebrity golf invitational dinner on Aug. 16 at the Pine Lake County Club in West Bloomfield Township. Guests enjoyed cocktails, dinner, and entertainment by Ben Sharkey and his band. Funds from the event went to Work it Out, a research-based program that's a blend of yoga and nutritional education.

Rub-a-Dub 2015

ORT Michigan held its annual fundraiser, Rub-a-Dub, at the Franklin Hills Country Club on Aug. 19. Guests enjoyed dinner, music, and a live and silent auction. Proceeds benefitted ORT, a Jewish educational nonprofit.

Bloomfield Financial's Dream Cruise Party 2015

Bloomfield Hills Financial held a party during the Woodward Dream Cruise on Aug. 15 at its headquarters on Woodward Avenue. Guests enjoyed classic cars and a view of the cruise.

Downtown Boxing Gym Youth Program Grand Opening

The Downtown Boxing Gym Youth Program, offering athletic training, academic support, and volunteering opportunities for youth in Detroit, held a grand opening for its new gym on the city’s east side near Vernor and Mount Elliott on Aug. 19. The 27,500-square-foot former bookbinding building now houses two boxing rings, a training facility, computer lab, study rooms, and executive offices.

2015 Powered By Women Breakfast

DBusiness magazine held a networking and awards breakfast for the eight 2015 Powered by Women honorees on Aug. 18 at the One Woodward Building in downtown Detroit. Each of the female business leaders, who were featured in the July/August issue, made remarks to an audience of more than 200 people.

13th Annual Cruisin' to Drive Out Hunger

A Woodward Dream Cruise preview party was held at the Westborn Market in Berkley on Aug. 14 to benefit Forgotten Harvest. The event included food from restaurants such as Bacco, Local Kitchen and Bar, Social Kitchen and Bar, and Vinsetta Garage, among others. Guests also enjoyed cocktails, craft beer, and live music.

Fash Bash 2015

The Founders Junior Council held its signature fundraising event, Fash Bash, at the Detroit Institute of Arts in Detroit's Midtown district on Aug.13. Guests enjoyed a fashion show and an afterglow party. All proceeds directly benefitted the museum.

Michigan Central Station Progress Tour

The Moroun organization gave a tour of the Michigan Central Station in Detroit on Aug. 13 as workers replace more than 1,000 windows. About 600 windows have been installed on the upper floors of the train station. Chamberlain Glass and Metal of St. Clair is doing the installation work.

Seasoned Chef's Dinner Series at CAYA Smokehouse Grill

CAYA Smokehouse Grill in Wolverine Lake hosted the Seasoned Chef’s Dinner Series on Aug. 12, which featured seven chefs, seven courses, and seven wines. Chefs from CAYA, The Meeting House in Rochester, Evans Street Station in Tecumseh, Cork Wine Pub in Pleasant Ridge, Bistro 82 in Royal Oak, Cantoro’s Trattoria in Plymouth Township, and Big Rock Chophouse and The Reserve in Birmingham participated. The event featured dishes such as jumbo sea scallops, pork tenderloin, and pepper-crusted smoked short rib.

Ideal Contracting's 2014 Supplier of the Year Celebration

Detroit-based Ideal Contracting celebrated its 11th supplier of the year award at Scarcyny Park and Garden in Southwest Detroit on July 24. Steve Kiefer, the vice president of global purchasing and supply chain management at General Motors, was the keynote speaker, and customers, suppliers, partners, and Ideal employees enjoyed food from El Taco Veloz and entertainment by the Living Arts dance group.
