More than 300 people attended the Detroit Jazz Festival's annual preview luncheon at the Detroit Athletic Club on April 19. The jazz festival, to be held Sept. 2-5 in downtown Detroit, will feature performances by George Benson, David Weiss and Point of Departure, and the Stanley Cowell Quintet, among others.

More than 200 people attended the Running With the Resurgence panel and networking event at the One Woodward Avenue Building on May 4. Panelists included Bridget Russo, CMO of Shinola; Garret Gaw, Detroit site lead of Amazon, Jill Ford, head of innovation and entrepreneurship for the City of Detroit; and Shane Gianino, CEO of QStride. Following the panel discussion, guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and tours of QStride’s offices.

The University of Michigan's Taubman Institute hosted "An Evening of Art + Science" on April 21 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) to raise funds for its Emerging Scholars grants. Leading up to the event, contemporary artists and U-M physician-researchers were paired to explore the intersection of their work. The resulting paintings, sculptures, and jewelry were sold at the gala.

Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan celebrated its 23rd annual Women’s Power Breakfast on April 21 at Eastern Market's Shed 3. More than 640 female leaders gathered to help raise money for 1 million meals for hungry children across southeast Michigan.
