The Annual Life Directions Golf Event took place Sept. 12 at the Western Golf and Country Club in Redford Township. The outing, which benefited Life Directions, featured a gourmet dinner, a live auction, and refreshments.

Farmington Hills-based Kyyba Kidz Foundation and the Novi-based School of World Music and Dance hosted a Bollywood entertainment fundraiser on Sept.10 at Divine Providence Lithuanian Catholic Church in Southfield. The show, “Gehna-Aja Nachle,”featured lively music and dancing performed by local youth and adults.

The 23rd annual Benefit on the Bay took place on Aug. 26 at MacRay Harbor on Lake St. Clair in Harrison Township. The event, which raises funds for the Detroit-based Capuchin Soup Kitchen, featured music, dancing, silent and live auctions, a speed painter, and a Tom Cruise look-alike.

The 2016 UAW-GM Spirit of Detroit Hydrofest was held Aug. 26-28 on the Detroit River. This year's racing event featured H1 Unlimited, Grand Prix, and Formula 2 Tunnel Boat hydroplanes.

The DBusiness Breakfast Series honored the 2016 “Powered by Women” honorees from the July/August issue on Aug. 30 at the Great Lakes Culinary Center in Southfield. The sold-out event included presentations from the honorees, a strolling gourmet breakfast, and networking.

Ideal Contracting and Ideal Setech, part of the Ideal Group in southwest Detroit, held a reception on Aug. 19 to celebrate being named a Supplier of the Year in 2015 by General Motors Co. It is the 12th overall award Ideal Group and its affiliates have received.

A Detroit Hydrofest Classic Shore Dinner party was held on Aug. 25 at The Roostertail in Detroit. The event, which was created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Gold Cup Race in Detroit, featured items from restaurants such as London Chop House, Wolfgang Puck, Andiamo, Huron Room, and more.

Wixom-based Visionalist Entertainment Productions held a private event for its new film Death is Not the Answer on Aug. 16 at the Detroit Athletic Club. The film, set to air this November throughout Michigan, covers depression and suicide in America.

Roadkill Nights, presented by Dodge, was held on Aug. 19 at M1 Concourse in Pontiac. The event featured high-powered drag racing on Woodward Avenue for cash prizes, Dodge thrill rides and displays, live music, food trucks, and giveaways.

ORT Michigan, a nonprofit Jewish organization that promotes education and training in communities worldwide, held its annual Rub-a-Dub fundraiser on Aug. 17 at the Franklin Hills Country Club in Farmington Hills. This year's event featured a silent auction, hors d'oeuvres, dinner, and a live auction.
