Medallion Ball 2017

Over 800 guests gathered on Saturday, March 4 at Penna's of Sterling Heights for Henry Ford Macomb Hospital's annual Medallion Gala. The black-tie fundraiser featured hors d’oeuvres, dinner, dancing, mock-gambling, and medallion presentations for this year's honorees.

Write A House in Corktown

On Feb. 28, the nonprofit organization Write a House celebrated the first in a series of house parties at unique spaces across the city, such as this residence in Corktown. Write A House has given away three fully renovated homes in Detroit to writers and is now working on a long term rental model to keep housing affordable for residents in the literary arts.

Commercial Real Estate Bankers, Brokers, and Builders

On March 2, more than 150 business professionals gathered for the Commercial Real Estate Bankers, Brokers, and Builders Breakfast at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. The speakers were Tom Wilson from Olympia Development, Arn Tellem from the Detroit Pistons, and Moddie Turay from Detroit Economic Growth Corp.

Premiere of “Inside Grand Hotel” Documentary

The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island held a reception for 400 people at the Detroit Athletic Club on March 1 to premiere a documentary on the iconic summer resort, which is 130 years old. The film is now showing on Detroit Public Television.

Top Lawyers Party 2017

DBusiness magazine’s 2017 Top Lawyers celebrated at a private event in their honor on January 17 at the Society Room in Detroit.

Wine and Dine in the D 2016

On Sept. 21, the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation held its annual Wine and Dine in the D fundraiser at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit. More than 400 guests enjoyed fine wine, food stations, and a silent auction.

Figure Skating in Detroit

Over 150 guests gathered at the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center in Detroit, to celebrate the launch of Figure Skating in Detroit, a local non-profit organization that helps young girls learn to figure skate, and gain academic and leadership skills. Guests enjoyed live music, food and beverages, and a presentation about the group's plans for the city.

Corks and Forks 2017

The ninth annual Corks and Forks event was hosted on Saturday, February 25, by local non-profit Winning Futures at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. Winning Futures offers school-based programs and mentorship workshops for middle and high school students throughout Southeast Michigan.

Honor the Legacy 2017

Over 100 people gathered at the Detroit Institute of Arts on Wednesday, February 22 to view a documentary honoring the life and legacy of Earl Lloyd, the first African American to play in the National Basketball Association. NBA greats including Isiah Thomas, Jalen Rose, Derrick Coleman, and former Detroit mayor Dave Bing were also in attendance.

FIRST Robotics Competition 2017

Detroit Hispanic Development Corp., a nonprofit youth services organization in southwest Detroit, held its FIRST Robotics Competition Kick Off on Feb. 21. The event, which drew more than 200 people, was sponsored by General Motors Co., Ideal Group, AISIN, Comcast, John E. Green Co., and Szegedi's.
