Cantoro Italian Trattoria in Troy, the second restaurant for Cantoro Italian Market and Trattoria, has opened for dinner, owners John and Michael Fallone announced Tuesday. Lunch services are expected to begin later this summer.
The restaurant, located at 1695 E. Big Beaver Road (north side, west of John R Road) is set just behind the San Marino Club, a banquet facility. Cantoro Italian Trattoria is a second-generation family business. The restaurant will offer the same menu as its the Plymouth Township location, which includes steaks, seafood, house-made pastas, soups, pizzas, and desserts. It will offer an award-winning selection of wine, as well as a full liquor and beer menu.
“It’s an exciting week as the doors to Cantoro Italian Trattoria in Troy are now open,” says John Fallone. “This area is hungry for a new Italian dining experience, as we’ve seen by the high number of bookings Cantoro Italian Trattoria has already accepted for private parties this summer and into late fall. We invite everyone out to come enjoy our completely remodeled space, including our gorgeous outdoor dining area and private banquet spaces.”
The 10,000-square-foot restaurant includes seating for 120 people in the main dining room. In addition, there are two fireplaces, 20 seats at the bar, a 125-seat banquet room, an 80-seat outdoor courtyard with an adjacent outdoor Bocce court, a 20-seat private dining room/wine cellar for exclusive wine diners, and a 40-seat terrace boardroom suitable for corporate events.
About 50 jobs have been created at the Troy location. The Plymouth Township location, which is at 1550 N. Haggerty Road (near Five Mile Road), is attached to its 55,000-square-foot Italian market. The company also has a small market at 19710 Middlebelt Road in Livonia.
“We are delighted to become part of the wonderful Troy community, and are humbled by the warm welcome we’ve received,” says Michael Fallone. “Starting with The San Marino Club and through the number of people who have already knocked on our doors to say ‘hello,’ we already feel like part of the family among our Troy neighbors.”
Jeffrey Jepko Valente is the restaurant’s general manager. He is the former executive chef and president of Little Italy and Hutton Street in Northville; executive chef of Too Ra Loo Corner Grill and Bar in Rochester; and executive chef and managing partner of Ristorante Villa Mariain in West Bloomfield Township, among others.
“We have been counting down the days where we get to introduce our contemporary Italian dishes and extensive wine menus to Oakland and Macomb County residents,” says Jepko. “There has been so much excitement about the opening, and we are really energized to provide a new dining destination to Big Beaver Road and the surrounding community.”
The building was designed as a replica of a San Marino castle for the San Marino Club members. The club originated in 1938 and relocated to Troy 39 years later. Members of the club enjoyed a private dinner last weekend, before the doors opened to the public.
San Marino in an island country located in the center of Italy and has a population of 33,385 people. It traces its roots to around 300 AD.
Dinner will be served 4-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 4-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
