Treetops in Gaylord Expands with 25 New Rental Properties Set to Open in Spring 2019

2021

Treetops Resort in Gaylord, which offers five golf courses, multiple ski runs, and other amenities, today announced it will break ground on 25 new rental homes near its newly-renovated clubhouse and hotel. The first rental homes, each offering four bedroom suites, will be available in the spring.

The units include a large great room with a central, double-sided fireplace, a kitchen, a lower-level game room featuring a billiards table, and a walk-out patio. The Jones Cabins, named after famed golf architect Robert Trent Jones Sr., are near the 3rd and 4th holes of the Masterpiece Course.

Jones designed the Masterpiece at the request of the late Harry Melling, former Treetops owner and president of Melling Tool Co., in the 1980s. Following Melling’s sale of the resort, a previous ownership group redesigned the 4th hole to make way for a housing development that was never completed.

In recent months, Treetops brought back the 4th hole, a par three, 190-yard expanse (from the back tee), to its original design. The green was still in place, and was renovated, while the ladies tee near a swimming pool, was redone.

“We’re having a great summer and we’re excited about adding the Jones Cabins as well as opening up some of our real estate for private home development,” says Barry Owens, general manager of Treetops Resort. “The Jones Cabins are designed for hosting families, couples, golfers, and skiers. We offer a lot of events throughout the year, and rising demand from guests and groups is driving our new housing.”

Last year, the 2,400-acre resort completed $4.5 million in improvements that included the renovation of 190 hotel rooms, common areas, lobby, new heating and cooling equipment, a spa, new roofs, exterior improvements, and food and beverage offerings (The Sports Bar, Legends on the Hill, Bar 81, Hunter’s Grille, and The Taverns).

The Jones Cabins will rent for between $400 and $700 a night, depending on the season. In addition, the resort’s website offers aerial video of all 81 holes via a drone equipped with a camera.
