Ram and Jeep Propel Auburn Hills-based Fiat Chrysler Sales For July

Fiat Chrysler, based in Auburn Hills, reported a 6 percent increase in year-over-year sales for July.

The company sold 170,970 cars and trucks, compared to 161,477 a year ago.

The increase in overall sales was propelled by the Ram and Jeep brands. The Jeep brand had its best July ever as the Cherokee, Compass, and Wrangler models all scored record increases. Jeep sold 79,906 vehicles in July, and marked the seventh straight month sales have increased.

The Ram brand also had its best July ever, as sales increased 2 percent to 45,065. Ram Light-Duty sales drove the brand’s performance with a total of 27,812 vehicle sales, an increase of 13 percent compared to the same period last year.

Chrysler brand sales declined 13 percent to 11,624, while Dodge brand was relatively flat since last year.
