Auburn Hills-based FCA US today announced the 2019 Ram 1500 during the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) at Detroit’s Cobo Center. The vehicle’s design utilized advanced materials and engineering to reduce the overall weight by 225 pounds, while increasing stiffness and durability to deliver 12,750 pounds of towing capability and 2,300 pounds of payload.

The vehicle features a new e-Torque system which delivers improved fuel efficiency in both V-6 and V-8 engine configurations. The updated Ram 1500 has Uconnect 4C with a 12-inch touchscreen and split-screen capability, 360-degree camera views, and exclusive content from SiriusXM with 360L.

Active safety and security systems include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and ready alert braking.

“The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 delivers a no-compromise approach to the full-size truck segment with strength, durability, technology, and efficiency,” says Mike Manley, head of Ram Brand. “The Ram 1500 offers truck buyers leading-edge innovation with 225 pounds of weight reduction, 12,750 pounds of towing capability, a Uconnect 12-inch touchscreen display, and active systems that improve fuel efficiency and assist drivers. The Ram 1500 stands out as the benchmark in a very competitive segment.”

The Ram 1500 tailagate also integrates a lift assist measure using a nitrogen and oil-charge strut, which gives consistent assist in cold and warm climates through the entire tailgate swing. The latch and lock mechanism is now electronic, reducing the amount of moving parts and allowing users to drop the tailgate with the interior switch, remotely, or with a key fob.

The line also adds a 4×4 Off-Road Package for the 2019 Ram 1500, including a one-inch suspension lift, four-corner air suspension, electronic-locking rear differential, and 32-inch on and off-road tires for additional grip.

Enhanced features including hill-descent control and off-road calibrated shocks bolster trail capability and the package also includes skid plate protection and tow hooks. The Ram 1500 Rebel is available in QuadCab configurations and features 18-inch wheels with 33-inch DuraTrac tires and an electronic-locking rear differential.

The 2019 Ram 1500 is manufactured at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant.
