NARA Hibachi, an upscale, creative hibachi and personalized stone grilling restaurant, bar, and lounge, has opened in West Bloomfield Township.

Formerly Shogun Hibachi Bistro, the restaurant is located at 5656 W. Maple Road. NARA offers Japanese American-inspired cuisine and craft cocktails from chefs Howard Barnes and Teddy Quinones, as well as restaurateur Stoli Liti.

It has an eclectic interior, scratch kitchen, in-house butchered meats, and high-quality proteins.

“NARA is where experience meets quality and craftsmanship. This is a table experience that’s surrounded by ambiance and expert service,” says Liti, who is also a managing partner.

The menu offers three types of Katsu sliders, Ahi tuna tacos, traditional hibachi, and sizzling filet tips.

Guests also have the opportunity to cook their meat Yakitori style on an 824-degree stone or sit at a Hibachi table and watch chefs cook their food. The NARA Lounge bar area is open late and offers its own menu and cocktails.

Quinones has been featured on “Live in the D” and publications for his knife and fire cooking skills. He has more than two decades of Hibachi experience.

The restaurant is open 4-11 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, 4 p.m.-1 a.m. Thursday-Saturday, and 2 p.m.-11 p.m. Sunday. Daily happy hour and late-night specials include $5 appetizers and $3-$7 alcoholic beverages.

NARA also offers private parties with exclusive dining areas. The hibachi room has space for up to 60 guests, the bar area has room for up to 70 guests, and the outdoor patio can seat up to 120 guests.
