MIAT College of Technology’s Canton Township branch will now offer 12- and 18-month electro-mechanical technology programs, the college announced Tuesday. The first class will begin on Sept. 10.
Graduates who complete the 12-month program will earn a certificate, and those who complete the 18-month program will earn an associate degree in applied sciences.
“Electro-Mechanical professionals work in extremely challenging environments that require a wide range of technical skills,” says Jennifer Paugh, president of the Canton campus. “They must have exposure to and experiences with electronics, robotics, programmable logic controllers, motors, drives, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
“In addition to classroom and hands-on instruction, our faculty stresses the importance of best practices and safety in the work place.”
Program graduates will support a wide variety of industries, including computer sciences, mechanical systems, electronics, telecommunications, manufacturing, robotics, and industrial automation.
Prospective jobs include electro-mechanical technician, mechanical engineering technician, electrical and electronics installer/repairer, industrial machinery mechanic, machinery maintenance worker, millwright, electrical and electronics engineering technician, industrial engineering technician, and telecommunications equipment installer/repairer.
MIAT also announced its Houston campus is now offering welding technology programs.
MIAT was established in 1969 in Michigan and is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges.
