Bentley’s Pet Stuff, headquartered in Illinois, today announced the acquisition of Ann Arbor-based Green Pawz Pet Supply. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

As part of its entry into Michigan, Bentley’s plans to open eight to 10 stores in the state within the next year, with initial planned locations in the Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo areas.

As part of the acquisition, Green Pawz founder Lisa Pearce will join Bentley’s team and help the company grow in Michigan.

“Bentley’s Pet Stuff’s beliefs align perfectly with ours, and we are very happy to say that all of our employees are staying on board, and they will now be getting health insurance and promotions from within,” says Pearce.

Bentley’s now has more than 100 stores in 13 states.

“We are excited to announce our entry into the Michigan market with the platform of one of the best stores in the industry, Green Pawz,” says Giovanni Senafe, Bentley’s Pet Stuff co-founder. “We are looking forward to hosting great events in Ann Arbor and continuing to help the communities in Michigan.”

Along with offering pet supplies, Bentley’s, like Green Pawz, provides support to local shelters and rescue groups, and hosts pet adoption events.

Giovanni and Lisa Senafe founded Bentley’s Pet Stuff in 2008 in Arlington Heights, Ill. It sells all-natural pet food.
