Therapeutics Deploys Secure, Virtual Social Platform for Opioid Abuse Treatment
Theraputics is a Joint Commission Certified medical facility in Wixom.
Detroit-area substance abuse facility Therapeutics has employed an interactive treatment tool powered by Detroit-based Brax.Me Enterprise Social Technology to better treat opioid addiction.
Founded by Rob Braxman and Robert Adams, the new, technologically advanced system provides virtual, private counseling and peer-to-peer communication offerings, which is completely encrypted. The social networking system is called True Confidential Therapeutics (TCT).
“This system offers important complementary communications avenues for our patients, counselors, and physicians to safely interact using cloud-based mobile technology that is always accessible and easy to use,” says Deidre Goldsmith, co-founder and program director of Therapeutics.
“Research shows peer-to-peer discussion is a vital component to successful recovery. Here, individuals can positively support and encourage each other as they might on Facebook, albeit extremely private and secured. Through TCT we have seen individuals who would never speak in-person or group settings suddenly open up and, for the first time, work toward getting better.”
The social networking system is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week, through a safe, secure interface. TCT is intended to support the recovery journey by providing video advice blogs, access to experts, and one-on-one counseling services in an accessible format. The service also offers patients a way to interact with peers in recovery through online topic-specific collaboration forums.
With Brax.Me, TCT was designed in part to support physicians that have been certified through the Drug Abuse Treatment Act (DATA) 2000 waiver process, which enables them to prescribe Buprenorphine and Suboxone to treat opioid addiction.
TCT provides a mechanism for doctors to offer counseling support in a convenient, private, economic fashion. The approximately 40,000 doctors certified nationwide can comply with standard of care requirements detailed as a condition of the waiver.
