Commerce Township will be home to The Big Salad’s seventh Michigan franchise in January 2018 (3050 Union Lake Road). The franchise will be owned and operated by Sandra and Craig LaFrance.

Sandra, a former elementary teacher, will run the day-to-day operations at the restaurant, while Craig, an accountant, will support his wife as needed. Sandra plans to bring business education programs and employment opportunities to The Big Salad Commerce Township location by connecting with area schools.

“I see us offering a quick, healthy dining choice in a community-based, friendly atmosphere,” says Sandra. “We specifically chose Commerce Township because we wanted to be involved and connected with our community. We see it as a community gathering place that offers healthy food in a clean, pleasant atmosphere.”

The Commerce Township location will offer customers all of The Big Salad’s traditional salads,  soups, and sandwiches. It will be the first location to introduce smoothies and specialty coffee drinks.

“This location will be our first retail site to offer these new drink options, which we have been testing for a couple of years. The response has been very positive,” says John Bornoty, president of The Big Salad. “Our goal is to make The Big Salad a place to sit and relax while enjoying everything from salads to an iced coffee.”

A variety of smoothies made with fresh fruits and vegetables, iced coffee, cappuccino, espresso, lattes, and frozen coffee drinks will be available to customers of the new franchise. The future rollout of the new items will be based on customer responses.
