Shelby Paint and Decorating today announced it will sell the company’s original Motor City Paint and Stain at its locations in Shelby Township, Rochester Hills, and Grosse Pointe Woods.
Introduced in March 2016 by Brian Eisbrenner, owner of Shelby Paint, Motor City Paint and Stain was developed specifically for the local market to address the needs of customers and contractors. The paint is manufactured by O’Leary Paints in Lansing.
By utilizing local manufacturing, Shelby Paint reduces the distance its paint travels, lowering both costs and their carbon footprint. Additionally, the paint has low volatile organic compounds (low VOC) which is beneficial for the environment and consumers. As part of the initiative, the company will no longer carry Benjamin Moore products.
“For 47 years, we have been dedicated to our customers and contractors through excellent service, selection, and products. Contractor comments led us to the discovery that became Motor City Paint,” says Eisbrenner. “While we are grateful to Benjamin Moore for being an important part of our business for the past 40 years, we look forward to our next evolution as Shelby Paint and Decorating Motor City Paint.”
As part of the announcement, store locations, hours, employees, and the color club customer reward program will all remain the same, and the paint recycling program will continue. The stores will also continue to carry Hunter Douglas blinds and Graber Blinds and Wallpaper, as well as a full complement of paint colors and types. They will be able to match any paint color carried by Benjamin Moore or any other brand.
As part of the reorganization, O’Leary Paint products will be added to the stores’ product lineup. “In the end, it simply makes sense to focus on a Michigan-made brand to help grow our business and support our local communities,” Eisbrenner says.
