The owners of La Dulce, a multi-cultural tapas spot in Royal Oak, have announced their restaurant will be relocating to a 7,000-square-foot space at the Crowne Plaza Detroit Riverfront along Jefferson Avenue, just east of Cobo Center.

Construction and relocation of equipment, furniture, and furnishings began on June 19. The restaurant is slated for a grand opening on July 6.

The 70-seat dining room will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The location also includes 30 seats at the bar, and an open-air patio facing the Detroit River for private events.

While the move does present an opportunity for a more dynamic dining experience, owner Luis Negrete says he will miss the space La Dulce is leaving behind.

“We have absolutely loved our time in the Royal Oak community and will miss the neighborhood that embraced us as we built out (our) footprint,” he says. “We had an opportunity to be part of Detroit’s growing culinary scene that we couldn’t pass up – we’re excited for our next step.”

An expanded kitchen will also allow executive chefs Juan Negrete and Hector Sanz to get creative with large-scale items, such as suckling pig and shareable paella. La Dulce’s signature dishes, including tapas from around the world will still be available, as well as small plates of ceviche, squid ink calamari, and traditional churros, among others.

After La Dulce’s reopening on July 6, hours will be Monday through Saturday 6:30 a.m. – midnight and Sunday 6:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.
