After operating out of their coffee lab in Ferndale for the past year, New Order Coffee today announced their flagship café will open on Woodward Avenue in Midtown Detroit on Wednesday, July 19.

The nano-batch specialty roaster will feature proprietary craft coffee drinks, a custom roasting on demand program, sweet and savory pastries, specialty foods and candies, and a variety of coffee gear. The 2,000-square-foot café will seat 60 people and feature a heated indoor/outdoor patio space and a semi-private conference room.

“We are striving to marry craft coffee excellence with an energetic sense of play, all while being very sensitive to the speed and quality of our service. From individually crafted drinks to the area’s only custom roast bar, New Order intends to live up to its name: an up to date, out of the box café and roasterie,” says owner Elizabeth Rose. “Our team can’t wait to grow with the city and add our own unique twist to the thriving Detroit coffee culture. It is simply unlike anything the city has yet seen.”

Drinks will include microbrewed by-the-cup coffee, handcrafted espresso, cold brew, nitro cold brew, teas, and a variety of specialty lattes with flavor-infused house-made marshmallows, cereal milks, and M&M ganache. A Crunch Berry cereal milk latte is on tap as the café’s inaugural rotating special latte, and guests are invited to choose their bean with a choice of house blend, including Brazil, Mogiana, Ethiopian Sidamo Gerbicho Killa, Timor Organic, Guatemala Atiltan, and Like A Virgin Water Processed Decaf.

New Order Coffee will also host a Rare Share program for coffee enthusiasts, which features six to eight varieties of beans that are exotic in quality and in limited supply. Rare Share beans will rotate with availability and can be purchased in a giftable eight-ounce box. A custom roasted on demand service will also be available for takeaway beans.

The café utilizes premier brewing equipment including a customized electric fluid bed air roaster as well as a Synesso MVP Hydra espresso machine and Modbar’s pour over coffee system.

The Ferndale location is expected to be renovated into the brand’s second location, with additional locations throughout metro Detroit slated to open in the next few years.
