Michigan Treasury Online Improves Digital Business Services

After several enhancements to the Michigan Treasury Online website, business owners statewide now have the option of conducting taxpayer transactions digitally. Effective immediately, businesses can upload their W-2s and other wage statements, request fuel credit refunds, and perform other paperless taxpayer duties through a website redesigned to be cleaner and more user friendly.

The Treasury has been working on expanding the services for business taxpayers for the last year, as part of the department’s commitment to innovation and streamlining financial services.

“Treasury is committed to enhancing our taxpayer services and experiences,” says Michigan Treasurer Nick Khouri. “We carefully listened to the business community about what works and what doesn’t work when conducting business online. As a result of those conversations, changes were made to the Michigan Treasury Online website to ensure our taxpayers are adequately served.”

The department also offers several electronic services for business taxpayers, including creating and maintaining personal user profiles to access web services, electronically registering a business for Michigan taxes, connecting to Treasury business accounts through a variety of platforms, managing registration information, filing and paying sales, use, and withholding taxes, printing and saving tax return drafts, request fuel credit refunds, viewing Treasury-issued correspondence, applying for sales tax licenses, and more.

By the end of the year, the Treasury hopes to have 160,000 SUW taxpayers actively using the website, accounting for approximately half of Michigan taxpayers in that category.
